NPS-45 USB NOTEBOOK POWER SUPPLY UNIT
Item No. 51 40 00
1.
INTENDED USE
This product is designed to supply USB devices and other electric devices such as notebooks or netbooks with
power, providing six different output voltages to select from. The connected load's current consumption must not
exceed the maximum output rating of the product. Power is supplied via a standard mains socket (100 - 240 V/AC,
50/60 Hz). The product should only be used in dry indoor areas. The product features both short-circuit and overload
protection.
This product fulfils European and national requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
CE conformity has been verified and the relevant statements and documents have been deposited at the
manufacturer.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety and approval
reasons (CE). Any usage other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product and lead to
associated risks such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. Please read the operating instructions thoroughly
and keep them for further reference.

•
When used in conjunction with other devices, observe the operating instructions and safety notices of
connected devices.
•
The product must not be subjected to heavy mechanical stress.
•
The product must not be exposed it to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, intense vibration, or dampness.
•
Make sure to observe the polarity and magnitude of the output voltage. Incorrect polarity or excessive voltage
input leads to the destruction of the connected electrical appliance.
•
Sufficient ventilation is essential when operating the product. Do not cover the product. Never place the
product on a table cloth or on a carpet! Place it on a hard, flame resistant base.
•
The product should not be used immediately after it has been brought from an area of cold temperature to an
area of warm temperature. Condensed water might destroy the product. Wait until the product adapts to the
new ambient temperature before use.
•
Make sure that the output of the power adapter is not short-circuited.
•
If there is reason to believe that safe operation is no longer possible, put the device out of operation and secure
it against unintended operation. Safe operation is no longer possible if:
-
the product shows visible damages,
-
the product was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time,
-
the product no longer works and
-
the product was subject to considerable transport stress.

OPERATION
Connecting an electric load
1.
Set the output voltage on the back of the power supply unit. To do this, slide the switch into the desired
position using a tool (e.g. a screwdriver or tip of a pen). Make sure the switch engages properly when set
into position.
The power supply unit's output voltage must match the input voltage of the electric consumer.
2.
Select one of the six low-voltage plugs matching the input socket and polarity of the electric consumer (see
table).
3.
Connect the plug to the connector at the end of the output cable. Voltage reversal of the output plug is not
possible for security reasons. The inner contact is positive (+), the outer negative (–).
Disconnect the power supply unit from the mains socket before replacing the low-voltage plug or
resetting the output voltage.
4.
Connect the low-voltage plug to the switched-off consumer.
5.
Connect the power cord's low-voltage plug with the matching socket of the power supply unit.
6.
Connect the mains plug to a standard mains socket (100 - 240 V/AC, 50/60 Hz). The LED on the top of the
power supply unit indicates operational readiness.
7.
Put the power supply unit onto a solid, flame-retardant surface and ensure that the power supply unit is
sufficiently ventilated.
8.
Now switch the connected consumer on. If it does not function properly, switch it off immediately and disconnect
it from the power supply unit.
9.
Remove the power supply unit from the mains when it is no longer in use.
Version 02/11
Connecting a USB load
1.
Connect the switched-off USB device to the power supply unit's USB port.
2.
Connect the power cord's low-voltage plug with the matching socket of the power supply unit.
3.
Connect the mains plug to a standard mains socket (100 - 240 V/AC, 50/60 Hz). The LED on the top of the
power supply unit indicates operational readiness.
4.
Put the power supply unit onto a solid, flame-retardant surface and ensure that the power supply unit is
sufficiently ventilated.
5.
Now switch the connected USB device on. If it does not function properly, switch it off immediately and
disconnect it from the power supply unit.
6.
Remove the power supply unit from the mains when it is no longer in use.
USB devices and other electric loads can be operated in parallel. However, make sure that the power
input of the connected devices does not exceed the power supply unit's total power output.
5.
MAINTENANCE
When cleaning, the power adapter must be disconnected from mains socket and electrical loads. Only use dry and
soft cloth to clear the housing of the power adapter. Do not use abrasive or solvents!
6.
DISPOSAL
In order to preserve, protect and improve the quality of environment, protect human health and utilise
natural resources prudently and rationally, the user should return unserviceable product to relevant
facilities in accordance with statutory regulations.
The crossed-out wheeled bin indicates the product needs to be disposed separately and not as
municipal waste.
