From Manage Mode
Press On-Off (4) for about 2 seconds. The Record Mode symbol appears:

From Setup Mode
1 Press Record/New, or press On-Off (4) for about 2 seconds, to go to Manage
Mode.
2 Press On-Off (4) for about 2 seconds to go to Record Mode.

Initial Record Mode Display

An example of the Initial Record Mode Display on power-up is shown in Figure 1.
The Initial Record Mode Display appears on power-up and whenever you start a
new letter. In Figure 1, the last recording was Letter 3. The letter's length or location
within the letter appear below MIN:SEC. The battery charge, mode and volume level
symbols also appear.
