ATTENTION !
The minimum CO2 concentration of outdoor air in vegetated, hardly industrialised areas is about 350 ppm. The gas exchange in the sensor
element takes place by diffusion. Depending on the changes to the concentration and the flow velocity of the air surrounding the sensor, the reaction
of the device to the change of concentration may take place with a delay. It is imperative that the device is positioned in such way that the air
stream flows well around the sensor. Otherwise the gas exchange may be considerably delayed or prevented. Furthermore, the device should not
be set up in the direct air flow of a CO2 source (e.g. exhaled breathing air) in order to avoid incorrect measurements.
Putting in operation
After connecting the device to the power supply, it indicates the currently measured CO2 value via the LED traffic light.
After a warm-up period of 30–50 minutes, it is possible to perform an optional manual calibration with fresh air.
Manual calibration of carbon dioxide measurement
Before starting, the room must be ventilated intensively to bring it up to fresh air level (≤ 500 ppm)!
If necessary, wait until the room temperature has returned to its normal level. Then perform the manual calibration as follows:
Remove the housing cover (see illustration on page 16) and hold the 'zero' push-button on the circuit board pressed until the flashing LED row
changes to a steady light after 5 seconds. Close the housing cover and move back.
The actual calibration process starts with a time delay of 2 minutes after switching to steady light. Finally, the manually calibrated value
(500 ppm) is displayed as the current measured value on the LED indicator (level 1: LED 1, green). The manual calibration is now complete.
Automatic calibration of the carbon dioxide measurement
The self-calibration technology is suitable for applications where CO2 concentrations regularly fall to fresh air levels (≤ 500 ppm).
This should ideally be done during times when the room is not occupied or by ventilating it regularly.
The automatic calibration requires continuous operation of the device (without power interruption) for correct operation.
The sensor reaches its typical measuring accuracy after 24 hours in an environment that has been subjected to a fresh air supply of ≤ 500 ppm.
The deviation errors remain minimal if the sensor is exposed to fresh air for at least 4 times within 21 days.
Acoustic signal
When the range changes, a signal tone is emitted to provide feedback that the next warning level has been reached, without having to look
directly at the traffic light. The acoustic signal can be switched off via DIP switch (position OFF = signal tone off).

Once the aforementioned values have been reached, the respective LED becomes active
(with increasing luminosity of 20 %, 40 %, 60 %, 80 % and 100 %);
LEDs that are already active continue to be illuminated.
