Connecting and Using the Foot Control

You can control when you start and stop sewing either via the On/Off switch (5) or via
the foot control (25).
CAUTION!
Ensure that there is nothing resting on the foot control when the sewing machine is
not in use!

Setting the Thread Tension

It is important to work with the correct thread tension when sewing. The wrong thread
tension will result in skipped stitches. The tension must be adjusted depending on the
type of stitch, thread and fabric. Most sewing can be done with a tension of between 3
and 5 (4 is the basic setting).

1. Make sure that the On/Off switch (5) is in the OFF position.
2. Connect the plug on the adapter cable to the DC6V
1200mA socket (20) of the sewing machine.
3. Plug the adapter plug into an easily accessible plug socket
which corresponds to the technical data.
4. To disconnect the device from the mains, fi rst pull the
adapter plug out of the plug socket and then pull the
adapter cable out of the socket on the device.
Plug the plug on the foot control cable into the Foot Pedal
socket (21) on the sewing machine and then place the
foot control on the fl oor.
When you press your foot down on the foot control, the
sewing machine operates. If you release your foot from
the foot control, the sewing machine stops.
Test the type of stitch on a piece of fabric which you later want
to machine. When the thread tension is set correctly, it is of
equal strength for the upper thread and the lower thread so
that both threads cross in the middle of the fabric. The basic
setting on the upper thread tension regulator (10) is 4.
For heavy fabric, for example, a lower upper thread tension
is required. If the stitches are too tight, the upper thread
tension has been set too high. Turn the upper thread ten-
sion regulator to the next number down to ease the tension.
With light fabrics, a higher upper thread tension is required.
If the stitches are too loose, the upper thread tension has
been set too low. Turn the upper thread tension regulator
to the next number up to increase the tension.
