These operating in structions contain important information on assembly, operation and safety.
Please read the instructions thoroughly before using the skimmer! Otherwise you may not use it!
This appliance is not suitable for use by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or lacking experience and/or knowledge, except if they are supervised by a
person responsible for their safety or have been instructed in the use of the appliance.
Children should be supervised in order to make sure that they do not play with the appliance.
The Skimmer 300 enables sucking off dirt particles from the water surface before they sink to the bottom
and soil the pond. Coarse particles such as leaves and grass are caught in the filter basket, smaller particles
are pumped to the filter system and filtered out of the water there.
Skimmer 300 is suitable for effective flow rates from 150 to max. 420 l/min.
Attention! Skimmer 300 can be optimally adjusted in operating height by levelling
(see Figure 6 + 7). If the water level rises or falls beyond these limits, proper functioning is
disrupted! Adjust the skimmer installation height, correct the water level or switch off the pump!
Attention! Disconnect the pump from the mains before all work on the skimmer or the pond!
Skimmer 300 assembly and installation (see figs. 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10)
1. Installation in the bank area should be between 32 cm and 47 cm deep and as horizontal as possible.
2. For optimal function, the skimmer should be set up in the prevailing wind direction.
3. Place Skimmer 300 WITHOUT float (1) and filter basket (2) with bracket (11) on the installation surface
(See fig. 8)
4. Mount a hose or pipe made of PVC or ABS material to connection (7) or glue it with a suitable adhesive.
(See fig. 10 A + B)
5. If the Ø 75 mm is to be used, the Ø 63 mm can be cut off in order to obtain the largest possible cable
cross-section. (See fig. 10 B)
6. The skimmer 300 can be fixed with pond substrate up to a height of 20 cm on the pond floor. (See fig. 8)
Attention! If no pond substrate is provided, another suitable ballast must be used for fixation.
7. Align the skimmer horizontally. (See fig. 8)
8. The amphibian exit can be installed as shown in figs. 3 and 4.
9. Push filter strainer (2) with bracket (11) into and float (1) onto inner ring (3).
Pipe skimmer 300 installation (see figs. 2, 3, 4, 7, 9 + 11)
1. The pipe skimmer, WITHOUT float (1) and filter basket (2) with bracket (11), can be stretched onto a DN
160 mm drain pipe, which is used as a suction pipe for a filter system.
2. For optimal function, the skimmer should be set up in the prevailing wind direction.
3. Align the pipe skimmer horizontally. (See fig. 9)
4. The amphibian exit can be installed as shown in figs. 3 and 4.
5. Push filter strainer (2) with bracket (11) into and float (1) onto inner ring (3).
Assembling the amphibious exit (see fig. 3)
1. Remove bracket (11) from filter basket (2) by pressing it together and pulling it down.
2. Place two amphibian exits (10) on top of each other on bracket (11) and screw tight with screws (14).
3. Squeeze bracket (11), insert it into the holes on filter basket (2) and pull up.
Operating information
1. The hose between skimmer and pump must be free of air and filled with water. Install the hose upwards
without bends, preferably with a slight rise from pump to skimmer, in order to avoid air bubbles forming in
the hose!
2. Lift the float before start of operation, in order to ensure a cushion of air under the edge of the float.
3. For filtration systems with very low flow rates the air cushion on the float may have to be reduced to
ensure that the water flows over the float. To do this, use a saw, file, or knife to make uniform notches at
several points in the inner float ring.
4. For cleaning, filter basket (2) can be removed and emptied at bracket (11). This process must be
repeated and checked as required.
ATTENTION! Before removing filter basket (2), shut down the pump.
Winter maintenance
ATTENTION! Switch off the pump before removing float (1) and filter basket (2)!
Ice and frost can destroy float (1)!
To prevent damage, take float (1) and basket (2) out of the pond in autumn, clean and store them in a
frost-free place. Stainless steel inner and outer rings (3 + 4) including housing parts (5, 6 + 9) can remain in
the pond.
