EXTREMELY IMPORTANT
Read these safety instructions carefully in addition to the instructions for use, operation and maintenance. Keep this instructions sheet in an easy to find place
as you may need to use it again.
This hydraulic pit jack has been designed to lift mechanical components on cars and trucks.
Any other application, beyond the conditions established for use of this hydraulic pit jack will be considered inappropriate.
Handle the hydraulic pit jack correctly and ensure that all parts are in good condition prior to its use.
Do not modify the hydraulic pit jack in any way.
The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for the improper use of the hydraulic pit jack.
1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS (§ 7.1.1 de l'EN 1494+A1)
The owner and/or operator shall have an understanding of the product, its operating characteristics, and safety operating instructions before operating it.
Safety information shall be understood:
1.
Study, understand and follow all instructions before operating this device.
2.
Do not exceed rated capacity.
3.
Use only on hard, level surface.
4.
Adequately support the vehicle before starting repairs.
5.
No alterations shall be made to this product.
6.
Only attachments and/or adapters applied by the manufacturer shall be used.
7.
Visual inspection shall be made before each use by checking for abnormal conditions, such as cracked welds, leaks, and damaged, loose, or
missing parts.
8.
It shall be the responsibility of the employer to ensure that applicable personal protective equipment (PPE) complies with applicable local safety
codes.
9.
Any product that appears to be damaged in any way, is found to be worn, or operates abnormally SHALL BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE UNTIL
REPAIRED OR REPLACED.
10. Before lifting a mechanical device, ensure it is on a stable, flat, horizontal and clean surface (no grease nor oil) (1).
11. Check the vehicle to lift is perfectly immobilised.
12. To prevent the assembly from slipping, always centre the load on the hydraulic pit jack properly.
13. Use of this product is limited to the removal, installation and transportation in the lowered position of transmissions, transfer cases and transaxles.
14. When using the hydraulic pit jack, no person must be inside the vehicle or lean on it.
15. When changing the oil, never use brake fluid, alcohol, glycerine, detergents, motor oil or used oil. Using dirty oil can cause major internal damage
to your equipment. For more information, contact your FACOM distributor directly. FACOM recommends using the oil reference
16. Check the precaution label is legible at all times. When retrofitting your equipment, these labels are available as well as the operating
instructions (NU-DL50/0218).
17. If the device jams, lift the vehicle with another jack until the first can be cleared.
18. Do not use the hydraulic pit jack in the presence of violent wind, frost, under extreme climates, near powerful magnetic fields or potentially
explosive atmospheres.
19. Avoid any contact between the hydraulic pit jack and food.
20. Never use this hydraulic pit jack to lift persons.
21. Never use this hydraulic pit jack as a handling means (for moving loads).
22. Before use on a ship, please refer to the safety instructions in point 1.10 of these instructions.
23. The maximum manual forces required for operating the hydraulic pit jack (unloaded and loaded with the nominal load respectively) do not exceed
the following values:
To start moving an unloaded movable or mobile hydraulic pit jack : 300 N
To maintain the movement of the unloaded hydraulic pit jack : 200 N
To start moving a loaded mobile hydraulic pit jack : 400 N
To maintain the movement of the loaded hydraulic pit jack : 300 N
To lift the loaded hydraulic pit jack using the lever of a hand pump: 400 N
To lift the loaded hydraulic pit jack using a foot pump: 400 N
To lift the hydraulic pit jack with a rated load ≤ 5 t using a crank: 250 N
NOTE If the loads generated exceed these values, they must be reduced by the intervention of additional persons.
24. If oil overflows, please do not use the hydraulic pit jack, and refer to section 7 of these user instructions or contact your Facom dealer.
25. This hydraulic pit jack is designed for 5000 operating cycles minimum.
26. This hydraulic pit jack complies with the NF EN 1494+A1 standard: Mobile or movable jacks and associated lifting equipment.
Failure to heed these markings may result in personal injury and/or property damage.
2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR PERFECT USE (§ 7.1.2 de l'EN 1494+A1)
1.
Faulty parts must be replaced by skilled staff with FACOM original parts. In case of oil overflow, contact a dealer for a repair.
2.
Each part in the hydraulic pit jack must be checked in case of load considered abnormal or following a shock.
3.
The operator must be able to monitor the lifting device and load throughout the operation. In hazardous situations, such as when moving a vehicle,
etc. interrupt the lifting operation immediately.
4.
Position the hydraulic pit jack as to avoid any part of the user's body from being located under the vehicle. Never work under a raised vehicle
without first securing it on jack stands or other vehicle supporting means. Always stay clear from the hydraulic pit jack's moving elements.
3. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION (see drawing p.23)
1.
Attach two legs (19) to the base using bolts and lock washers and washer.
2.
Fit four casters (17) to the legs (19) using nuts (17A).
3.
Put the adapter (1) onto the top of the piston rod and slip it down.
4.
Unscrew and remove the screw at the top side of the reservoir, then insert the air vent screw and tighten it.
4. INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE
1.
IMPORTANT : Ensure the Air vent screw is mounted before first use according to the drawing n°8. Failure to install
before first use will result in the warranty being voided.
2.
Internal lubrication
Actuate the lever, with the valve open, several times to ensure perfect lubrication.
3.
Fast bleeding the hydraulic system
During the hydraulic pit jack's transport, some air can enter the system, reducing its effectiveness. To bleed the hydraulic
system, close the valve (5). With the handle, pump up to maximum displacement. Open the valve and push back the piston.
