GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELECTRICAL TOOLS
The term "Electrical tool" in the warning signs relates to a line-operated (cable-connected) or rechargeable
battery-operated (cordless) electrical tool.
WORK AREA SAFETY
• Keep the work area clean and well illuminated: overcrowded or dark areas are invitation for
accidents.
• Do not operate the electric tool in potentially explosive atmospheres, such as fluids, gases or dust.
Electric tools generate sparks which may ignite dust or vapours.
• Keep children and persons standing around away when you are using an electric tool. Distractions
may lead to you losing control.
ELECTRIC TOOL SAFETY
• The plug of the electric tool must match the socket.Never make any modifications to the plug in any
manner. Do not use an adapter plug for earthed electric tools. A plug that has not been modified and
the matching socket reduce the risk of an electric shock.
• Avoid you body from making contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and
fridges. There is an increased risk of an electric shock if your body is earthed.
• Do not expose the electric tool to rain nor wet conditions. Penetration of water into the electric tool
increases the risk of an electric shock.
• Do not misuse the cable. Never use the cable for carrying or pulling the electric tool. Keep the cable
away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. A damaged or twisted cable increases the risk of
an electric shock.
• If an electric tool is used outdoors, use an extension cable that is suitable for use outdoors. The use
of a cable that is suitable for outdoor areas reduces the risk of an electric shock.
• If the use of an electric tool in a moist location cannot be avoided, use a source of supply protected
by a residual current circuit breaker (FI). The use of a residual current circuit breaker (FI) reduces the
risk of an electric shock.
PERSONAL SAFETY
• Stay vigilant, observe what you are doing and when using the electric tool, use common sense. Do
not use the electric tool if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medicine. A
moment of inattention may lead to serious injuries.
• Use personal protective equipment. Always wear safety glasses. Use protective equipment
appropriate for the conditions such as dust mask, anti-slip safety shoes, protective helmet and ear
protection as these reduce the risk of injury.
• Prevent unintentional starting. Make sure that the switch is switched off before you connect the tool
to a power source and / or insert a rechargeable battery. Switching electric tools on unintentionally
may lead to an accident.
• Make sure that you stand securely and maintain your balance at all times. This enables better control
of the electric tool in unexpected situations.
• Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts.
Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair may get caught in moving parts.
