Before the first use
• Read these operating instructions carefully before
using the appliance for the first time.
• Remove all packaging elements and stickers, but not
the rating plate.
• Place the plate of the grill on the housing.
• Place the raclette grill on a non-slip, level and dry surface.
• Clean the surface of the grill and the paddles with a
damp cloth, if necessary with a little detergent and
warm water. Do not use abrasive sponges.
Smoke and smells may be emitted
from the appliance during its first use.
The appliance should therefore be
heated for approximately 10 minutes
before any food is placed on it. Allow
the room to air during this time.

The appliance meets the requirements
of the applicable EC directives.
The appliance is designed for indoor
domestic use only.
CAUTION: The surface of the grill and
the paddles become extremely hot
during operation. There is a risk of
scalding and fire! Only touch the paddles
by their thermally insulated handles!
ATTENTION! Always unplug the
appliance when not in use and before
cleaning.
Operation
• Your Raclette Grill (Art-6446) is equipped with a non-
stick coating that prevents the build-up of food and
facilitates cleaning.
• The non-stick coating means that you need very little
or no oil / fat to prepare the food.
• The Raclette Grill with the natural stone surface (Art-
6440) does not feature a non-stick coating. There is
no need to add oil to the stone.
To prevent the meat from sticking to the natural stone
surface, simply sprinkle a little salt on the stone.
• The appliance's stepless temperature control allows
you to set the grill temperature to suit the food to be

grilled or to keep food warm.
• Tip: Stone is a natural product that can crack or break
if the temperature changes abruptly. This can be lar-
gely avoided by treating the stone as follows prior to
its first use:
1. Clean the stone as indicated.
2. Wipe the stone dry thoroughly.
3. Coat the top of the stone with a heat-resistant
(edible) oil.
4. Then place the stone in a cold oven and heat
to 220 °C.
5. Leave the stone in the oven for 45 minutes.
6. Now switch the oven off and let the stone cool
down slowly until it reaches room temperatu-
re. DO NOT cool the stone with cold water.
• Even when these measures are implemented, small
cracks or colour changes may appear in the stone
over time. This does not constitute any grounds for
complaint, as its function is not impaired!
Initial operation
• Place the grill in the middle of the table, on a dry,
non-slip, flat surface.
• Chop the meat into bite-sized pieces. This allows
them cook faster.
• Connect the mains plug into the socket.
• The indicator light comes on.
• Select a heat setting, to suit the temperature of the
food to be grilled.
CAUTION:
Now the appliance will get hot!
• The first time the appliance heats up, it may emit light
smoke. Smoking then stops after a few minutes.
• Preheat the raclette grill for a few minutes.
• The natural stone surface of the raclette grill takes
approx. 20-30 minutes to heat up.
• Now place the food on the grill.
• Top your paddles as you wish.
• Tip: Take care not to top the paddles up too high with
food.
• To bake over, slide the paddles into the provided
space under the surface of the grill.
• Tip: When the surface of the grill is covered with
food, it is possible that hot fat or water splashes from
the grill surface.
CAUTION: Do not turn the food
with metal tongs or forks. This may
damage the non-stick coating. Only
use grill utensils made of wood or
heat-resistant plastic!
Cleaning
• Before cleaning, disconnect the mains plug and allow
the unit to cool down.
• In principle, the paddles and the aluminium plate are
dishwasher-safe.
• However, we recommend that you clean all parts by
