6) Troubleshooting (cont...)
6.3 Green Water
• Settlement test the water to ensure that there is no sediment suspended in the water. If
there is, follow cloudy/brown water troubleshooting list.
• If you have a non-UVC model, this condition cannot be cleared without the use of a green
water treatment.
• The flow rate from the pump exceeds the maximum for the installed filter - check filter
performance and specification chart. Reduce flow if needed.
• The pump flow rate is below the minimum turnover for the size of pond. See "3.3 Connect-
ing to your Pump." and "6.4 Poor Flow..." procedure.
• The filter and UVC is too small for the pond and pond conditions present - check filter
performance chart for accurate filter sizing.
• The UVC quartz sleeve is dirty - clean the sleeve gently with soft cloth using vinegar.
Rinse thoroughly.
• Follow all cloudy water troubleshooting points under "6.2 Cloudy/Brown Water."
6.4 Poor Flow from the Filter Outlet
• Inspect pond pump for blockage and ensure that the pump is in good working order.
• Check foams, if they are blocked clean as per "5.1 Routine Maintenance."
• Ensure that inlet and outlet pipes are on correctly - see arrows on filter box.
• Pressure filters cause a restriction in the outlet pipe from your pump, equivalent to 3-6
foot of head lift - ensure that the pump is capable of running with this back pressure plus
the additional lift if the outlet is running to a waterfall, etc.
• Always use the minimum length of hose needed as this will keep pressure losses to a minimum.
• Ensure that the hosetail has been cut to the correct size and the smaller hosetail size
removed - see "3.2 Connecting Hoses."
• Ensure there are no kinks or folds in the hose.
7) Problem Procedure
7.1 Before Returning Your Filter to your Dealer Please Carry out the Following Steps
• Ensure electrical procedures have been followed fully. Check fuses and any cable connec-
tors/switch boxes.
• Follow routine maintenance procedure fully.
• Check "3.1 Filter Location Options" and "3.3 Connecting to your Pump" details, including
flow rates.
• Ensure that your pond volume and pump flow rate meet the maximum pond size recom-
mended for the filter model on the filter performance and specification chart.
• Follow troubleshooting guide (6).
• If there is a mechanical breakdown of the filter or UVC, return to the point of purchase for
inspection and advice. You will need a proof of purchase.
