• If performance deteriorates or sound distortion or interference increases or the
volume becomes too weak, it is time to charge or replace the batteries. Never
replace or insert batteries with the unit switched on. Make sure that the batteries
are correctly installed before using the product.
• Under extremely cold conditions, warm the hearing protector before using.
• The audibility of warning signals at a specific workplace may be impaired
while using the headset.
• The performance may deteriorate with battery usage.
• Operating temperature: -4°F (-20°C) to +131°F (+55°C)
n WARnInG!
The sound from the active-volume circuit on the hearing protector may exceed
the external sound level.

7. TeCHnICAL DATA

7:1 Attenuation values, nRR
This hearing protector has been tested according to ANSI S3.19-1974.
Test frequencies (Hz) 125
Mean attenuation (dB)
Standard deviation (dB)
The NRR calculated from these laboratory-based attenuation data is 20. Improper
fit of this device will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating noise. Consult the fitting
instructions for proper fit.
The level of noise entering a person's ear, when a hearing protector is worn as
directed, is closely approximated by the difference between the A-weighted
environmental noise level and the NRR.
Example:
1. The environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92 dBA.
2. The NRR is 20 decibels (dB).
3. The level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to 72 dBA.
m Caution: For noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz, the
C-weighted environmental noise level should be used.
Although hearing protectors can be recommended for protection against the harmful
effects of impulsive noise, the noise reduction rating (NRR) is based on the attenuation
of continuous noise and may not be an accurate indicator of the protection attainable
against impulsive noise such as gunfire (wording required by EPA).
Improper fit of this device will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating noise.
Consult the fitting instructions for proper fit.
7:2 Sound exposure when using the 3.5 mm audio input
The earphone level for music is measured at no more than 82 dB(A) equivalent
sound level. Max input level 1.5 Vrms.
7:3 Battery type
All types of AAA 1.2–1.5V batteries can be used (NiMH, NiCd, Alkaline, Lithium,
Manganese, etc), but only NiMH and NiCd batteries can be recharged.
7:4 Battery life
The expected battery life may vary depending on the brand of batteries and the
temperature in which the product is used. Low battery level is indicated by a
voice saying:
"low battery". The headset functions will not work optimally
if the battery is low.
