4. INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING
Information!
The installation and commissioning of biolite® must either be carried out by qualified workshop
or by a technically experienced person (see also chapter Minimum qualifications for handling the
product (p.35)).
4.1 Safety Instructions
During installation and commissioning, please observe the instructions in the chapter Safety (p.34).
Attention!
• UV-C radiation can affect skin and cause eye damage.
• Never open the housing of the biolite®.
• Never look into the openings of the water connections when the biolite® is switched on.
• Only operate the biolite® when the housing is undamaged and closed.
• Pay attention to other people and direct them out of the danger area.

4.2 Preparations
For a smooth installation, we recommend the following tools or fastening material:
•
4 x screws for fastening the housing
(according to the material properties of the fastening surface)
•
Cordless screwdriver with corresponding bit
•
Folding yardstick and pencil
•
Tool for cutting the hose or pipe (according to the material properties)
•
knife for cutting the connecting hose
(depending on the material properties of the hose, alternatively a hose cutter)
•
Stripping tool (or knife) for stripping the connecting cable of the biolite®
•
Flat pliers for installing the wire-tap connectors
•
Multimeter for voltage measurement
Before installation, make sure that
a.
The water connection hoses are empty and no water can escape uncontrolled
during installation.
b.
The water connection hoses are compatible with the water connections of the biolite®.
c.
The water connection hoses are long enough to connect them to the biolite® without pressure
- if not, extend them in advance.
d.
The electrical connection cables on site are compatible with the wire-tap connectors included
in the scope of delivery (wire cross-section 0.5² ... 1.5² mm²)
- if not, obtain suitable connection cables in advance.
e.
The on-board connection cables are spatially close to the connection cable of the biolite®
- if not, extend them or strip the connection cable of the biolite® accordingly.
f.
The „activation" of the biolite® must be carried out by means of a signal line through the
water delivery unit (pump) or a suitable flow sensor. For pressure pumps with pressure
switch this is the cable leading to the pump drive (+12 ... 24VDC), for submersible pumps
without pressure switch this is the power supply cable (see also chapter Electrical connection (p.49))
g.
The maximum pressure in the pipe system does not exceed the maximum operating
pressure of the biolite® (see also chapter Operating and ambient conditions (p.40))
h.
You have free access to the biolite® even after installation.
