14. TROUBLESHOOTING
Before carrying out any maintenance or
cleaning, unplug the coffee maker and wait
for it to cool down.
THE COFFEE IS RUNNING DOWN THE
SIDES OF THE FILTER HOLDER
The filter holder is not correctly fitted.
• Turn the filter holder as far to the right
as possible.
There is coffee on the edge of the filter.
• Switch off the water supply, remove the
filter holder and clean the edge of the
filter.
The brew head seal is dirty.
• Clean it (be careful, it may be hot)
The seal has lost its elasticity.
• Replace the seal.
THE PUMP IS VERY NOISY
There is no water in the tank.
• Fill the tank with water.
The water tank is not correctly fitted.
• Rinse it and fit it in place again.
THE ESPRESSO COFFEE IS NOT
COMING OUT
There is no water in the tank.
• Fill the tank with water.
Dial "d" turned to steam position.
• Remove the filter holder, reverse the
dial and wait until the coffee maker
reaches coffee-making temperature.
Filter clogged
• Remove the filter holder and switch on
the water supply. The water should
come out of the upper filter. Unplug the
appliance. If necessary, unscrew the
upper filter (be careful, it may be hot)
and clean it.
THE ESPRESSO COFFEE IS ONLY
DRIPPING OUT
The coffee has been ground too fine or
has been compressed too hard.
• Do not press the coffee down hard in
the filter; grind it coarser.
Filter clogged.
• Remove the filter holder and switch on
the water supply, which should circulate
through the filter. Unplug the appliance.
If necessary, unscrew the filter (be
careful, it may be hot) and clean it.

The coffee maker is clogged with scale.
• Clean the scale from the coffee maker.
THE ESPRESSO COFFEE IS NOT
CREAMY
The coffee is past its sell-by date or too
dry.
• Use fresh coffee.
The coffee has not been compressed
enough.
• Compress the coffee more in the filter.
The coffee has been ground too coarse.
• Grind the coffee finer.
You are not using the right type of coffee to
make espresso coffee.
• Use another brand of coffee.
THE ESPRESSO COFFEE IS COMING
OUT COLD
The coffee maker has not been heated
enough.
• Heat it up for longer.
The cups have not been warmed or they
have not been warmed enough.
• Warm the cups previously with hot
water.
NO STEAM IS COMING OUT OF THE
PIPE
The steam nozzle is blocked.
• Unscrew the nozzle and switch on the
steam function without the nozzle.
If water or steam comes out of the pipe:
clean the blocked nozzle. You may need
to use a needle.
If no water or steam come out of the
pipe: clean the scale from the pipe (see
the "Descaling" section).
If the coffee maker is still blocked,
consult the manufacturer.
NOT ENOUGH FROTH IS BEING MADE
The milk is not fresh.
• Use fresh milk.
You are not using the right kind of milk.
• Use milk with 1.5% fat.
The milk is too warm at the beginning.
• Use milk straight out of the fridge.
You are not using a suitable frothing
container.
• Use a stainless steel jug.
THE WATER TANK DRIPS WHEN IT IS
REMOVED
The base valve has become stuck.
• v Push the valve into the right place
with your finger.
