2] REMINDERS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Wiring
- The distance between the SASIC and the last SASCP console unit should not exceed 100 m.
Make sure not to install wires close to "high power" cabling (for example: 230 V AC).
- Recommended wires > 1 twisted pair, SYT1 8/10ths shielded wire (EIA-485 standard), re-
fer to the article below: "An EIA-485 line may interconnect several devices in parallel,
with each one featuring an emitter and a receiver. Maximum distances of up to a kilome-
ter are possible, depending on the configured transfer rates. However, practical experience
has shown that if the transmission line exceeds about ten meters then the referencepo-
tentials (0V) of each device should be networked (in reality in this case the RS485 link re-
quires three wires – two plus the shielding) to ensure that the voltages between equipment
grounds, as well as those between equipment grounds and earthgrounds, cause no damage".
- To secure the installation, do not forget to insert a 120 Ω resistor between A and B, on the last
control panel.
- For locking systems which are not fitted with a varistor, do not forget to mount one on the
locking mechanism and in parallel with the power supply in order to secure the installation.
Battery -We strongly recommend using with the SASIC with a 12 V 7 Ah battery (Ref: B7AH).
When connecting the battery, pay special care to respect the polarities.
Ideal positionning - The centrcontrol unit must be installed in a closed environment and be
protected from external weather conditions.
To secure the system, the following points must be checked:
A. The control unit must be connected to the mains using a cable with a ground lead which is in
compliance with safety standards.
B. The ground lead must be connected to the cabinet as shown in the wiring diagram on Page
33. This guarantees a fully protective ground connection.
C. The connection between the cabinet and the ground protection must be ensured using
the yellow / green conductor fitted with a lug (see the wiring diagram on page 33 and the
connection spot for the ground protection lug indicated on the cabinet).
D. The system must be connected to an electrical installation which is in accordance with legally
required security standards. It must be fitted with a circuit breaker to guarantee safety in the
event of a fault.
E. Before operating for the first time, ensure correct grounding of all parts of the cabinet (cabi-
net and door).
F. The mains wire must be connected securely but without undue force. Others points that must
be respected
