13. Possible Causes of Operational Problems and Their Removal

Fire is difficult to light up and then goes out after a short while
cause (solution)
a) wet or resinous wood
(use dry hardwood)
b) low pressure in the room
(open a window near the stove for a few minutes)
c) clogged central air supply
(check the central air control)
d) central air supply may be completely or partially blocked
(disconnect the central air supply and attempt to light the fire using only the air in the room)
e) chimney damper blocked with soot
(check and clean chimney damper)
f) incorrect lighting procedure
(observe the lighting procedure)
g) low chimney draught
(check the chimney, turn off the extractor hood)
 Poor draught in the stove
a) obstacle in the chimney
(check the chimney)
b) clogged or closed central air supply
(check the central air control)
c) strong extractor hood draught
(switch the combustion air intake to the central air supply, adjust the extractor hood mode, reduce draught)

The stove smokes during stoking
a) wet or resinous wood
(use dry hardwood)
b) unheated stove
(heat up the stove to operating temperature)
c) bad chimney draught
(open the chimney damper, check the chimney connection, clean the chimney, turn off the extractor hood)

There is a burning smell near the stove
a) reverse the draught of the chimney due to weather conditions
