A system message "..... has requested that you disconnect. Would you like to disconnect"
appears on the computer currently connected to the USB device. If "Yes" is clicked the present
connection to the USB hub is disconnected, and the other user can connect to the USB device
connected to the USB hub.
Miscellaneous
Please consult the (English) instruction manual on the manufacturer's CD. (PDF
format). To view the file, you need "Acrobat Reader" which you can download free of
charge at www.adobe.com.
• Suitable USB devices
The USB hub allows the connection and operation of any USB device. Depending on the USB
driver, problems may occur if the USB driver does not require a direct USB connection.
The software provided emulates the direct connection; i.e. there is no difference for most
drivers, if the USB device is directly connected to the computer or operated via the USB hub.
Due to the multitude of USB devices, we cannot guarantee that every USB device is suitable
for connection to the USB hub! In this case, the USB device needs to be connected, as usual,
directly to a USB connection on the computer and not to the USB hub.
Examples: With USB multifunction devices the scanning of pictures may no longer be possible,
with USB printers the ink level may not work properly and suchlike.
• Power supply for the external drive
The wall plug transformer enclosed has an output current of 2A, e.g. therefore, hard disks
without their own power supply (6.35cm/2.5") can be operated.
• Software
The software provided has to be installed on every PC that is to access the USB devices on
the USB hub.
Please note: The simultaneous access of (e.g.) two or more computers to a USB
device (e.g. USB hard disk) connected to the USB hub is not possible. First dis-
connect the existing connection, to allow another computer to access the USB
device; see Section "Connection to the USB device".
It is, however, possible to connect PC 1 with the USB device 2 and PC 2 with the
USB device 4 for example.
• Password:
Access to the connected USB device can be safeguarded by a password.
If you forget the password, the USB hub can be reset to the default settings with the "RESET"
button, see below.
• Restoring default settings:
The USB hub can be reset to the default setting as follows:
Press the countersunk "RESET" button e.g. with a toothpick for 10 seconds. After this, the USB
hub is reset to the default settings; you can release the "RESET"-button. The USB hub requires
up to 30 seconds to restart.
Handling
Only to be used in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet,
danger of a fatal electric shock!
Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a
warm one. The condensation that forms might destroy your unit.
Allow the device to reach room temperature before switching it on. This may take
several hours. Only then can the wall plug transformer be plugged into the mains and
the router put into operation..
Ensure that the insulation for the entire product is neither damaged nor destroyed.
The housing must not be opened! Any maintenance or repair work must only be
carried out by authorised personnel.
Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, DO NOT connect the product to the mains supply! This
presents a danger to life!
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not operate any longer and
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
If the product is not to be used for a while, unplug the wall plug transformer. Bear in
mind that, connection to the USB hub and the USB devices connected will no longer
be possible.
Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during trans-
portation:
- Damp or excess air humidity
- Extreme cold or heat
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found close to machinery or loudspeakers
When setting up the product, ensure that the cables are neither bent nor squeezed.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste!
Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
