2.2 Additional safety rules for the use of the Powerlec Vario
Commissioning and the set-up of the tool must only be performed by qualified personnel who has read and understood this manual.
Careful handling of the device.
Strong shocks and impacts may damage the device.
Operation of electrical motors can lead to sparking, which in turn can set fire to flammable and explosive materials.
The Powerlec Vario is a hand-held device which is not intended for clamped or stationary applications.
The electro-hydraulic device may never be used in heavy rain or under water.
For damages caused by improper handling or non-observance of the safety regulations, häwa GmbH cannot be held responsible.

3 Characteristics

The hand-held, battery-powered punching device is state-of-the-art technology within the context of its intended use and coherent safety
requirements, at time the device when the product is launched on the market.
The hand-held, battery-powered punching device is hydraulically operated and is supplied with an EC Declaration of Conformity (see annex) and
corresponds to the requirements as set out in the Machinery Directive 2006 / 42 / EC.
We reserve the right to make technical modifications as part of further developments of the device.

3.1 Intended Use

The Powerlec Vario is a hand-held, battery-powered device for punching round and shaped holes in stainless steel, sheet steel and aluminum sheets
and must not be used for stationary applications.
Under favorable conditions it is possible to punch also some types of plastics and fiberglass (soft plastic compounds can be punched with sharp
tools). It is advisable to make a preliminary punch in advance.
The Powerlec Vario can be operated with the following häwa punches:
Standard punches type 2623, consisting of punch, die and the corresponding draw bolt
Round punches Plus type 2682, consisting of punch, die and the corresponding draw bolt
Square, rectangular, shaped and customized punches consisting of punch, die and draw bolt
Standard round punches type 2623 and customized punches can be used for punching holes in plastic, fiberglass, aluminum and sheet steel. Round
punches Plus type 2682 and be used for punching the captioned materials and in addition stainless steel.
Caution: Within the scope of intended use, the customer may only change the punches and the battery pack.
Additional requirements:
Through the operating principle "Actuation by means of a draw bolt" pilot holes are required prior to punching. Use only original häwa spare parts.

3.2 Predictable misuse or improper handling

Any modification of the device and any predictable misuse or improper handling will invalidate the manufacturer's EC Declaration of Conformity and
the Incorporation Regulations Certification awarded to häwa GmbH .
Predictable misuse or improper handling:
Use in heavy rain or snow
Pulling, pressing or similar actions of bearings
Operation with blunt tools
Utilization outside the indended use of the device
The smaller value of the technical data of the punching device and tools specifies the max. admissible sheet metal thicknesses.

3.3 Residual risks

Constructively, not all hazards, without limiting the intended functionality, could be avoided.
The residual risks of the hand-held, battery-powered punching device have been analyzed and assessed by means of a risk assessment.
Possible unavoidable construction risks:
Scrapes or crushed limbs caused by non-observance of the operating instructions.
Unintended starting / unintended operation.
Cuts caused by sharp tools or sheet metals.
The punches hits the base of die. Danger of die fracture!
