Connecting a Suitable Power Adaptor
Make sure you only use power adaptors that comply with the applicable
safety regul ations and that they have the following characteristics.
Observe the safety instructions in the operating instructions for the power
adaptor.
Do not leave the cables trailing free; route them in an orderly and profes-
sional way to prevent accidents.
A suitable power unit has the following characteristics:
Output voltage
Stabilisation
Load capacity
Polarity
Low voltage connection plug
• Plug the low voltage connector of the power supply unit into the 12 Vdc jack on the rear of the
device.
• Plug the power adaptor into the wall socket.
• When the charging adapter is supplied with power, the green POWER LED starts to flash.

Charging Procedure

• Insert the rechargeable battery(ies) into the charging slots, paying attention to the correct
polarity. A mechanical lock prevents incorrect insertion.
• After a short moment, the red STATUS LED indicates the current operating mode for the cor-
responding battery slot:
OFF:
No rechargeable battery is inserted or the charging process is completed
ON:
A battery has been detected or is being charged
FLASHES: Error
• After completed charging process, the red STATUS LED for the corresponding charging slot
goes out and the charged battery can be removed.
• If the battery is removed during the charging process, the corresponding STATUS LED goes
out after approx. one second.
In the event of an error, the STATUS-LED for the charging slot concerned flashes.
The charging slot is switched off immediately and it is not monitored any longer.
In this case, remove the battery (LED keeps flashing) and disconnect the charging
adapter from the power supply briefly (unplug the low voltage plug of the power
supply unit and then plug it in again after a short wait).
If another battery was placed in another charging slot, the charging adapter will
continue the charging procedure once the power supply is reconnected.

Maintenance and Care

Prior to cleaning, any inserted rechargeable batteries must be removed and
the product must be disconnected from the voltage supply (disconnect
mains adapter from the mains socket).
The product does not have to be serviced and, except for occasional cleaning with a soft, dry
cloth, requires no maintenance whatsoever.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions as these may damage the surface
of the housing.
Disposal
Product
Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
Disposal of used batteries/rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batter-
ies/rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these
symbols to indicate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden.
The symbols for dangerous heavy metal constituents are: Cd =
Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead. You can return your used batter-
ies/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the official collection points
of your community or where ever batteries and rechargeable batteries
are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the envi-
ronment.
