• the bottom end of the shoulder belt runs beneath the
lap belt guide on the side of the buckle;
• the tongue of the belt is locked securely into the
buckle;
• the vehicle seatbelt runs snugly over the child, and
is not twisted.
6. USE IN AIRCRAFT
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
1.
Read these instructions carefully before your
ß ight and familiarise yourself with their contents.
Take note of the information and follow the
instructions given. Incorrect use may put your
child's life at risk. In the event of failure to follow
these instructions for use as well as non-compli
ance with instructions issued by the airline or
ß ight attendants, your child's safety is not
guaranteed.
2.
This child seat is approved to European Standard
ECE R44 for children from 15 - 36kg
(approx. 3 - 12 years) and thus for use in road
trafÞ c (depending on country). The 'for use in
aircraft' option has been approved by TÜV
Rheinland (TÜV No. 0000053832, see underside
of seat base); however, the airline is under no
obligation to carry the seat. Please contact your
airline to discuss this before your ß ight.
3.
The child seat may only be used on passenger
seats, which have been approved by the airline for
the use of child seats.
4.
The child seat may only be Þ tted to a seat that has
been designated for this purpose.
5.
The child seat should not be Þ tted in an airbag
deployment zone.
Installing the MAXI
[MAXI_017 + MAXI_018] Lift the backrest of the
child seat until it locks in an upright position.
[MAXI_023 + MAXI_025] Stow the ISOFIX
connection arms in the base of the seat.
[MAXI_019] Adjust the length of the backrest
according to the size of the child so that the shoulder
strap retainer is no more than two Þ ngers' width
above the child's shoulder.
If the passenger seat armrests are a nuisance, then
fold these up.
[MAXI_035] Place the child seat on the passenger
seat. Make sure the child seat and the passenger seat
are facing in the direction of travel.
Make sure the backrest of the child seat always rests
against the backrest of the passenger seat.
Fastening your child into the MAXI
[MAXI_036] Unlike using a three-point safety belt in
a car, the child seat is attached using just the
two-point safety belt on the passenger seat (aircraft
only). Feed both belts on the passenger seat under the
armrests through the base of the child seat so that
they come to rest on the red lap belt retainers. Check
when doing so that the belt is not twisted. Fasten the
buckle and pull the belt tight. Also follow any
instructions given by a ß ight attendant.
The buckle should be positioned on the child's
stomach where possible. However, since belts have
different lengths, the buckle may come to rest on the
red lap belt retainers. This was classiÞ ed as
permissible during the 'For use in aircraft' certiÞ ca-
tion by TÜV Rheinland.
We recommend for safety reasons that your child
remains strapped into the child seat for the duration
of the ß ight (including take-off, landing and taxiing).
The child seat must always be secured even if the
child is not in it in order not to put other passengers
at risk in the event of turbulence.
Unfastening a child
Follow ß ight attendant's instructions for releasing the
seat belt buckle.
[MAXI_037] If the buckle is close to the lap belt
retainers and therefore difÞ cult to release, turn the
child seat on the passenger seat to the right or left to
free the buckle. It will then be easy to open in
accordance with the ß ight attendant's instructions.
Please ask a ß ight attendant if you need help.
[MAXI_020 + MAXI_021] To fold the child seat
backrest away, press the release slider at the bottom
of the backrest under the cover upwards and tilt the
backrest forwards.
