4.4 RFS room air control
Also refer to connection option 4 in Chapter
6.11.
Damage to the unit.
NOTICE
Never operate an RFS together
with a CO
For controlling the fans depending on the
relative humidity. The ventilation unit switches
to ventilation level 3 if the humidity value is
exceeded 75 % r.h. If the humidity in the
room drops, the ventilation unit switches back
to the previously selected ventilation level.
If you switch manually from ventila-
tion level 3 to level 2 or 1, this deacti-
vates the automatic function of the
humidity control temporarily. This is
then switched back to active if the
level drops below the humidity
control´s set point once.
4.5 External operating display
Also refer to connection option 3 in
Chap. 6.10.
Using an additional external operating
display, the operation of the ventilation unit
can be displayed, for example, in a building
utility room. The external operating display
has to be supplied by the customer.
4.6 Differential pressure controller
Also refer to connection option 5 in
Chap. 6.12.
A differential pressure controller is required
if the ventilation unit is being operated at the
same time as an air-ventilated fireplace.
The differential pressure control (for example
Wodtke DS 01) serves as safety device to
monitor pressure ratios between the waste
gas pipe and room where the unit is installed.
If necessary, the fans in the ventilation unit
are switched off.
Note the rules applicable to operations
with fireplaces in chapter 3.4.
The differential pressure controller is to be
supplied by the customer.

or VOC sensor.

4.7 NTC 15 supply air temperature
sensor
Also refer to connection option 6 in Chapter
6.13.
An NTC protects hydraulic re-heating
registers from icing over. The ventilation unit
switches off if the temperature falls below the
frost protection temperature of 5 °C.
The NTC connection is required to RB 170
comfort or bypass units in passive-energy
houses Wiring diagram in Chapter 12.2,
item W6.
4.8 Hydraulic reheating register
If a hydraulic reheating register is fitted in a
ventilation system (for example in a passive-
energy house), a supply air temperature
sensor must be fitted to protect against
supply air which is too cold Chap. 4.7.
4.9 Frost protection heating register
In RB 170 comfort and bypass units, the
pre-heating of outside air is guaranteed by
the electric frost protection heating register
Frost protection temperatures,
Chapter 6.7.5.
4.10 Earth heat exchanger
An energy-optimised frost protection can be
ensured for the ventilation unit using an earth
heat exchanger.
In summer, an earth heat exchanger also
provides a certain cooling function and
dehumidifying of the outside air. Earth heat
exchangers must be planned carefully with
respect to energy efficiency and air hygiene.
4.11 KNX/EIB bus components
Also refer to Chapter 12.4
The ventilation unit can also be operated
together with KNX/EIB bus components, e.g.
with fan coil actuators or operating panels
from the corresponding KNX supplier.
Further KNX/EIB modules can be integrated
in the system bus without problem, e.g.
CO
sensors, timers and motion detectors.
