3 Installation
3.1 Mount the display on the wall
Fix the wall mount to the wall in the desired position with the arrow
facing upwards.
Slide the display onto the wall mount from above.
3.2 Connect connecting lead and heating systems
Slot the plug of the connecting lead from the display into the appro-
priate socket on the power unit and secure with the two locking
screws.
Connect the bed heatin (DENNERLE Bodenfluter cable)
to the left socket on the power unit
and the water heating (adjustable heater)
to the socket on the right.
3.3 Fix the temperature sensor into place in the aquarium
Choose a point in the aquarium where the water movement is good.
Clean the pane of the aquarium and secure temperature sensor using
the suction clip. Fix the sensor cable in place with the suction clip.
Always ensure that the temperature sensor cannot slip out of the aqua-
rium.
Do not install the sensor cable in the direct vicinity of high electric
loads (e.g. not parallel to the mains cable of the adjustable heater).
3.4 Switch on the Duomat
Check whether the bed heating and water heating have been installed in
the aquarium correctly in accordance with the respective operating
manuals. Aquarium heating systems must always be under water and
must not run dry.
Connect mains plug to the 230 V power supply.
The Duomat is now ready for use.
3.5 Set the adjustable heater
Set the adjustable heater 2 °C higher than the desired aquarium
temperature.
Example: If the desired temperature is 25 °C, the adjustable heater
should be set to 27 °C.
Note: If the preset temperature on the adjustable heater is too low, it
will shut down before it is switched off by the Duomat. As a result, the
desired aquarium temperature will not be attained.

The Duomat will now carry out automatic sequential control of the bed and water heating:
• Both heating systems are first of all activated, in order to raise the aquarium temperature to the
set value (LEDs for bed heating and water heating ON).
• When the set temperature of 25 °C is reached, the water heating is shut down; the bed heating
remains active.
• If the bed heating output is not sufficient to maintain this temperature, the water heating will be
switched on again upon the temperature dropping to 24.5 °C.
• The bed heating will be shut down briefly only if the temperature rises to 25.5 °C (e.g. due to
a high room temperature).
The Duomat thus always gives preference to the bed heating, so as to ensure the important circula-
tion of nutrients in the bed and to maintain the bed filtration function.

Duomat Evolution
4.1 Temperature in the aquarium
In normal operating mode, the display shows the current water
temperature measured in the aquarium (= actual value).
4.2 Setting the desired temperature
• Press "°C" key: The green LED next to the key will flash; the display
shows the currently programmed temperature (factory setting:
25 °C).
• Enter the desired temperature (set value) with the "+" and "–" keys.
• If no key is pressed for 3 sec., the Duomat will adopt the entered
value. The actual value in the aquarium appears again on the
display, the green LED switches to continuously lit mode and the
controller performs the corresponding control actions.
4.3 Checking the set temperature
• Press "°C" key: The green LED next to the key will flash; the display
shows the set temperature.
• After 3 sec. the actual value appears again on the display, the green
LED switches to continuously lit mode and the controller resumes
normal operations.
