7. Always use the right power tool
– Do not use low-performance
machinery for heavy-duty tasks.
– Do not use the power tool for a
purpose it is not designed for. Do
not, for example, use a circular
hand saw to cut tree branches or
logs.
8. Wear suitable clothing
– Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery, this may be caught by
moving parts.
– When working outdoors, we rec-
ommend you wear sturdy shoes.
– Wear a hair net if you have long
hair.
9. Use personal protective equip-
ment
– Wear goggles
– Wear a respiratory mask when
carrying out tasks that generate
dust.
10. Connect the dust extractor
– If connections for dust extraction
and collection are available, make
sure that they are connected and
used correctly.
11. Do not use the cable for a pur-
pose it is not designed for
– Do not use the cable to pull the
plug out of the socket. Protect
the power cable from heat, oil
and sharp edges.
12. Secure the workpiece
– Use tensioning equipment or a
vice to hold the workpiece in
place. This is safer than holding it
with your hands.

14. Take good care of your tools

specialist replace it it.
– Regularly check any extension
cables and replace them if they
are damaged.
– Keep handles dry, clean, and free
from oil and grease.
15. Pull the plug out of the socket

use, before maintenance and
when changing tools, for exam-
ple, saw blades, drills, routers.

machinery
– Check before switching on that
wrenches and adjustment tools

17. Prevent accidental starts
– Ensure that the switch is set to
off before putting the plug into
the socket.
18. Use an extension cable designed
for outdoor use
– When using the tool outdoors
only use permitted and appropri-
ately labelled extension cables.
