PLATINUM™ REMOTE
Thank you for your recent purchase of a Luxaflex® window covering product. This guide
shows you how to set up and operate motorised Luxaflex® products using the Platinum™
Technology remote control. In this guide, you will learn the two methods to operate your
window covering (Infra-red and Radio control). Choose the method that works best for
you. Good luck.
1 GETTING sTARTEd
Install batteries in the Platinum™ remote (see picture A)
(1) Remove the lid of the battery compartment and insert two AAA batteries.
(2) Press the Master Reset button on the back of the remote with a paperclip.
(3) Replace the lid of the battery compartment.
2 BAsIc OPERATION
In its default mode, the Platinum™ remote sends an Infra-red signal:
(1) Aim the remote at the Sensor Eye.
Note: For more information about the locations of sensor eyes, see picture B.
(2) Press and release the UP or DOWN button to operate the window covering.
Note: Press and release the opposite or button to stop a moving window covering.
Note: When operating in infra-red mode, the Indicator Light will be red.
In addition to the default method of operation, the Platinum™ remote can be set up to
use radio control. When you want the convenience of radio control and the ability to
control multiple window coverings at the same time, follow the procedure in section "3.
Radio Control".
Note: Luxaflex® Roller blinds can only be operated with radio control.
3 RAdIO cONTROL
Radio control gives you the ability to control individual or multiple window coverings at
the same time, even if they are in another room.
3.1 Group assignment
To use radio control, each window covering must first be assigned to a group. (A window
covering can be member of more than one group.)
There are four unique assignable groups to use. A group can be a single window covering
or multiple window coverings.
Note: Luxaflex® recommends that only similar window coverings be included in a group
(e.g. Duette® shades assigned to Group 1 and Silhouette® window shadings
assigned to Group 2) because of differences in product features and operation.
3.2 Group Addition or Removal (see picture c)
Before you begin, operate the window covering using Infra-red control to make sure you
are communicating with only one window covering.
(1) With a paperclip, press the SETUP button on the back of the remote. The Indicator
Light on the front of the remote flashes green for approx. 30 seconds.
4
(2) While the Indicator Light is flashing green, press the group button (e.g. button 1) for
the group to which you plan to assign the window covering.
(3) Point the remote at the sensor eye (as close as possible, max. 5cm away) and press
the UP button to add the window covering to the group. Pressing the DOWN button
will remove the window covering from the group. The window covering moves
slightly (or "jogs") to indicate it has been added or removed from the group.
(4) Exit Setup Mode by pressing the SETUP button a second time. The remote saves any
changes made and the Indicator Light stops flashing.
3.3 Radio control Operation
Operating your window coverings using radio control is much like using Infra-red control,
except that you can control multiple window coverings at the same time and you do not
have to aim the remote at the sensor eye. The Indicator Light will now be green. Please
note that the remote will default back to infra-red after 20 seconds, therefore when
operating by radio always press the group button before pressing the command.
(1) Press the group button assigned to the window covering(s).
(2) Press the UP button to open or DOWN button to close the window covering(s).
Note: Press the assigned group button, then press and release the opposite or button to
stop a moving window covering.
Note: To operate all window coverings assigned to the remote, press the ALL button
before pressing UP or DOWN .
3.4 setting up a duplicate Remote (see picture d)
If you have already programmed one remote control, you can quickly duplicate its
settings to another remote. Any change made with any of the remotes also affects the
operation of the other remotes.
(1) Remove the battery compartment from the duplicate remote.
(2) With a paperclip, press and hold the MASTER RESET button for approx. 10 seconds.
The Indicator Light on the front of the remote starts flashing red.
(3) Place the original remote within 45 cm of the duplicate remote and press the UP
button on the original remote. The Indicator Light on the duplicate remote stops
flashing
(4) Replace the lid of the battery compartment on the duplicate remote. It is now ready
for use.
4 INTERMEdIATE sTOPs (sEE PIcTURE E)
An intermediate stop allows a window covering to be preset so that it will stop at the
same height each time it is opened or closed.
(1) Raise and lower the window covering fully. For Duette® Top-Down/Bottom-Up and
Duolite® shades, make sure the middle and bottom bars are both fully raised and
lowered!
(2) Go to the desired intermediate stop.
(3) Press and hold the ALL button for 6 seconds. The Indicator Light starts flashing green.
(4) Point the remote at the sensor eye and press the UP button to set the intermediate
stop. The window covering moves slightly (or "jogs") to indicate that the
intermediate stop has been set.
(5) Press the ALL button to save the stop. The Indicator Light stops flashing.
Note: Only 1 intermediate stop can be set for each window covering. A new intermediate
stop replaces the previous stop. Reset the window covering to clear an intermediate
stop. See section "7.2. Resetting a Window Covering".
Note: the Intermediate Stop is only available for Silhouette® and Duette® shades.
