Removing the Waffle Plates
Non-Swivel Models
Use the following procedure to remove the waffle plates for
cleaning.
CAUTION
BURN HAZARD: Allow unit to cool before performing any
cleaning, adjustments, or maintenance .
1. Turn the Temperature Control fully counterclockwise to the
"off" position, unplug the power cord, and allow the unit to
cool.
2. For KWM18 models, rotate both waffle plates to the front
position.
3. Remove the top/rear heating element assembly.
a. Remove the two thumbscrews on the cover of the top/
rear heating element assembly.
b. Lift the top/rear heating element assembly off of the top/
rear waffle plate and set aside. The power coil still will
be attached between the element assembly and the
base of the unit.

4. Remove the bottom/front heating element assembly.
For KWM09 models:
a. Holding both waffle plate handles in one hand, rotate
and hold both waffle plates up in the vertical position.
b. Flip over the drip tray and reposition on the base of the
unit.
c. Using the other hand, remove the two thumbscrews on
the cover of the bottom heating element assembly.
d. Remove the bottom heating element assembly from the
bottom waffle plate and set aside.
e. Rotate both waffle plates back down onto the flipped
drip tray.

Assembly—KWM09 Models
For KWM18 models:
a. Flip over the rear drip tray and reposition on the base of
the unit.
b. Rotate both waffle plates to the rear position on top of
the flipped drip tray.
c. Remove the two thumbscrews on the cover of the front
heating element assembly.
d. Lift the front heating element assembly off of the front
waffle plate and set aside.
