Intended Use
The digital oscilloscope is used for visualising electrical values and signals. Two independent
input channels are available for making electrical measurements. The probes are connected to
the oscilloscope via BNC connectors.
The measured signals can be stored and displayed as a reference..
The control is performed via VDU based control menus.
The maximum measuring voltage (300 V/DC/ACpk) should not be exceeded. Use divider probes
if necessary.
The device should only be connected to and operated with a earthed socket (Schuko socket)
connected to the public AC power supply.
Use, other than that described above, can damage the product and may involve additional risks such
as short circuits, fire and electric shocks.
No part of the product should be modified or reassembled.
Measurement in a damp locations, outdoors or under adverse environmental conditions is not
permitted.
Unfavourable ambient conditions are:
- Wet conditions or high air humidity
- Dust and flammable gases, vapours or solvent,
- Thunderstorms or similar conditions such as strong electrostatic fields etc.
Always observe the safety notes included in these operating instructions.
This quick guide explains the safety measures that should be taken to make working with the
device as safe as possible. The individual functions of the device are described in more detail in
the enclosed operating manual.
Safety and Hazard Notices
Please read the entire operating instructions before using the product for the
first time; they contain important information about the correct operation.
• The guarantee will be void if damage is incurred as a result of non-compliance with the opera-
ting instructions! Liability for any and all consequential damage is excluded!
• We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use or
non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty is voided in these cases.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of
safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The construction of the product corresponds to protection class 1. Only a properly earthed
mains socket (100 - 240 V~) connected to the public power supply should be used.
• Measuring devices and devices connected to the power supply should be kept out of the reach
of children. Be particularly careful when there are children around.
• First, connect the BNC output of the measurement cable to the oscilloscope, then connect the
probe to the electric circuit to be measured. When the measurement is completed, please
disconnect the measuring contacts first, before disconnecting the BNC probe output from the
oscilloscope.
• Take particular care when dealing with voltages exceeding 25V AC or 35V DC! Even at such
voltages you can receive a life-threatening electric shock if you come into contact with electri-
fied wires.
• Prior to each measurement, check your instrument and its measuring leads for damage(s).
Never carry out any measurements if the protecting insulation is defective (torn, ripped off etc.).
• To avoid electric shock, be careful not to touch the connections/measuring points, to be mea-
sured, neither directly nor indirectly during the measurement.
• Never touch the probes outside of the marked handling area during a measurement. There is
a risk of a fatal electric shock.
• Do not use the device shortly before or after a thunderstorm (lightning! / high-energy over vol-
tages!). Make sure that your hands, shoes, clothing, the floor, the measuring device and/or
measuring lines, the circuits and its parts are always dry.
• Do not use the product inside of rooms, or in poor ambient conditions, where flammable gases,
vapours or explosive dust may be present or are present!
VOLTCRAFT
Version 11/08
• Do not operate the device near to:
- strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields
- transmitting aerials or HF generators.
- as these may affect the measurement.
®
• Only use measuring cables, or equipment, appropriate for the oscilloscope's specifications
when making measurements. Only dual or specially insulated measuring equipment may be
°
used (e.g. fully insulated BNC adapters, etc.)
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect the device
immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation. It can be assumed that safe operation
is no longer possible if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not operate any longer and
- the unit was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- if it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
• Never switch the device on immediately after having taken it from a cold in to a warm environ-
ment. The condensation that forms might destroy your device. Allow the device to reach room
temperature before switching it on.
• Never disassemble the product! There is a risk of a fatal electric shock.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since this may become a dange-
rous toy for children.
• The product is only suited for dry indoor locations (not bathrooms or similar damp interiors).
The device must not get wet or damp. There is a risk of a fatal electric shock.
• On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the industrial wor-
kers' society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed.
• If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to safely connect it,
consult a trained technician.
• Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows, or accidental drops,
even from a low height.
• Please observe the attached detailed operating instructions.
This device left the manufacture's factory in a safe and perfect condition.
We kindly request the user to observe the safety instructions and warnings contained in the
enclosed operating instructions so this condition is maintained and to ensure safe operation.
Please pay attention to the following symbols:
A triangle containing an exclamation mark, in these operating instructions, indicates
important information that has to be observed without fail.
A triangle containing a lightning symbol indicates a danger for an electric shock or for
the impairment of the electrical safety of the device.
The „hand" symbol is used to indicate where specific hints and information on handling
are given.
This product has been CE tested and meets the necessary European guidelines.
Warning! This is a class A device. It can cause radio interferences in residential areas;
in this case, it can be demanded that the operator carries out appropriate measures.
CAT II
Voltage surge category II, for measurements on electric devices connected to the
mains supply by a power plug.
Earthed connector, protection class 1. This screw/connector must not be loosened.
Earth potential
Reference ground chassis
Regularly check the technical safety of the instrument and mea-
suring cables, e.g. check for damage to the housing or crimping
etc.
Never operate the device when it is open! !RISK OF FATAL INJURY!
Do not exceed the maximum permitted input values. Never touch circuits or parts
of circuits with voltages greater than 25 V/AC rms or 35 V/DC! Mortal danger!
Unpacking
Check all the parts for completeness and damage after unpacking.
Damages parts must not be used for safety reasons. In case of any damage con-
tact our costumer service.
Setting up the Device
Set up the device, using the handle or the device's pedestal,l so it can be operated and read com-
fortably.
Avoid direct sunlight over a long period as this could damage the screen.
In order to comply with the technical tolerance data, the device has to be opera-
ting for about 20 minutes within the given operating temperature range.
