Do not open the ash pan door if the stove is in operation.
If, for any reason, it is necessary to open it, first open the hearth door to prevent the
combustion from spreading.
Self Regulation of the Secondary Air
The secondary air intake is performed via the baffle and is distributed proportionally in the
combustion chamber by the orifices for that purpose.
The greater the combustion, the more heat and therefore an increased flue and secondary air
intake.
Ensure that the heater's combustion air intakes remain clear at all times and that no foreign
objects can interfere with the heater.
2.1.3. – BREAK IN FIRE
It is extremely important for the stove to be broken in slowly for the following reasons:
a) To stabilize the cast iron parts.
b) To slowly eliminate the moisture content of the soap-stone.
c) To harden the cement that seals the gaskets.
Recommendations:
- We recommend that the first loads are small.
- For the flue to begin to work, heat the chimney by introducing a lit paper into the existing
gap between the front and the baffle, pointing it towards the chimney.
- Whilst breaking in the stove, keep the room where the stove is located ventilated as paint
vapours may be emitted.
- Keep the stove lit for several hours in this type of operation.
- IMPORTANT¡ The total height of the fire load should not exceed 50% of the height of the
combustion chamber.
- The heater must be closed at all times during combustion to prevent smoke from
leaking out. Only open to add fuel.
2.1.4. – DAILY USE
a.- General Guide
Your stove is ready for daily use after being broken in.
The heating requirements of your home will be what determine the frequency with which you
have to load wood.
Whenever your stove is cold, it is advisable to light it slowly.
b.- Over-firing Caution
Over-firing means the stove has been operating at an elevated temperature for a prolonged
period of time. Over-firing should be avoided since it may cause damage to the stove.
Over-firing is caused by excessive flue, due to one of the following reasons:
- Primary Air Valve is open too far for the type of wood used.
- Oversized chimney.
- Incorrect maintenance of the stove, which may produce air infiltrations.
