JUMP START WARNINGS

Flooded lead-acid batteries can release explosive gasses. Failure to follow instructions may
cause property damage, explosion hazard and/or personal injury.
• Follow the connection sequence outlined below, paying special attention to the polar-
ity. The battery's positive terminal is typically identified as being larger in diameter
than the negative terminal. In most vehicles, it has a red wire or red terminal cover con-
nected to it. Do not proceed until you are sure you have identified the positive terminal.
• Do not attempt to jump start while wearing vinyl clothing. Static electricity sparks may
be produced when vinyl clothing is rubbed.
• Remove any metallic jewelry, such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches while
working with a lead-acid battery. A battery short-circuit can cause severe burns.
