Operating and assembly instructions S-LP ATEX
A uniform run-up and expiry must be guaranteed within the
run-up and expiry times.
No speed changes must occur during operation that exceed
the speed change during run-up and expiry.
Protection by residual current circuit breakers (FI-circuit
breakers):
The current IGBT frequency converters inherently produce
leakage currents > =3.5 mA. These leakage currents can
lead to false alarms in systems that are fused using a 30 mA
FI-circuit breaker.
In the event of a fault, residual current can also leak as direct
current via the protective conductor. If protection is required
on the supply side by means of a FI-circuit breaker, it is im-
portant that an FI-circuit breaker is used that is sensitive to
universal current (type B). The use of an incorrect FI-circuit
breaker other than type B can lead to death or serious injury
in the event of a fault. The protective conductor must be de-
signed to connect twice via isolated terminals or via a protec-
tive conductor cross-section with a minimum of 10 mm
comply with the EN61800-5-1 standard.
Operation and connection to public power supply net-
works:
Most frequency converters are designed to operate on indus-
trial grids. If the converter is connected directly to and oper-
ated on a public grid, then additional interference suppres-
sion measures, such as a mains choke, must be built into the
mains feeder. For further information, refer to the converter
manufacturer's specifi cations.
5 MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
5.1 Basic information
Before and after maintenance/service measures, repairs or
replacement of parts, an Elektror ATEX blower may only be
employed as intended (see 1.1).
Before commencing with the maintenance/service measure,
repair or replacement of parts ensure that the blower impeller
has stopped and the blower has been secured reliably to pre-
vent start-up. For instance, electric power supply to the blow-
er must be interrupted, ideally by separation at the terminals.
At no point during maintenance, cleaning, service or repair
may an explosion hazard exist or arise.
Wear parts are subject to the recommend maintenance in-
tervals (see 5.3 to 5.9 ). The service life of wearing parts
(ball bearings and fi lters) depends on the operating hours,
the load and other infl uences, such as temperature, etc.
Accessibility for regular maintenance must be ensured.
Maintenance and servicing may only be performed by per-
sons with the necessary expertise and regular training. In ad-
dition to the appliance's operating instructions and the regu-
lations and recommendations for the system as a whole, the
following points should be observed:
Inspection and maintenance intervals:
The operator must set the cleaning, inspection and mainte-
nance intervals himself according to operating hours, load
and operating conditions.
Immediate inspection and maintenance
The blower must be inspected immediately if vibrations or
reduced air fl ow are observed.
Note!
We recommend to have repairs carried out by the
manufacturer. We cannot accept any liability for
repairs carried out by third parties.

Perform the following tasks in course of every inspec-
tion/maintenance job as well as upon repair and replace-
ment of parts:
• Visually inspect all movable parts of the blower, such as
impeller, blower housing cover / intake nozzle for possible
damage, scoring, wear, fi ssures, cracks, deformation;
proper condition of all earthing connections, radial shaft
seals etc.
• Inspect the gap between the impeller nozzle and the intake
nozzle at the blower cover.
ATEX machine type from S-LP 250 and bigger:
Minimum gap 3.0 mm
All other S-LP machine types:
Minimum gap 2.0 mm
• If ATEX blowers are stored for replacement, note that some
components installed have a limited storage life. This espe-
cially applies to the ball bearings, e.g. concerning the life of
the grease lubrication. The storage life depends on the type
of storage and the unit type as well as on the conditions and

duration of storage of the Elektror product. Type-related in-
formation can be acquired from Elektror Product manage-
ment.
• Inspection and service work must be documented chrono-
logically and fully stating the name of the person responsi-
ble. In particular, operating errors, measures implemented
as well as compliance with all applicable regulations and the
manufacturer's specifi cations must be documented. It is rec-
ommended that this documentation be kept in a report book
and safely stored.
5.2 Ball Bearings
Danger!
Risk of injury and property damage posed by
improper handling!
The risk of injury and property damage increases
considerably if the device is handled incorrectly.
Explosions and the property damage and phy-
sical injuries resulting from them are the conse-
quence.
Only authorised specialist workshops with
approval are allowed to perform repairs to ATEX
devices.
Note!
The ball bearings are to be checked during each
instance of service and prior to each instance of
commissioning.
Operation is only permitted with fl awless ball
bearings!
Refer to the supplier's documentation of the ATEX
motor manufacturer for further notes.
Note!
In the event of frequently starting up and shutting
down, premature replacement of the bearings will
be required. Determining the time for replacing
the bearings is the sole responsibility of the main-
tenance and servicing personnel, who must make
a safety judgement.
