3. Evaluate the overall load to be balanced: tool, accessories and parts of tubes or cables
supported by the balancer. The overall load to be balanced must lie between the
minimum and maximum capacity of the balancer selected.
4. To obtain best performance, hang the balancer with the hook (N° 33 Fig. A) at a height
that permits using the central part of the stroke.
5. The balancer may be suspended from a fixed connection or from a conveying system
which must be rigorously horizontal.
6. Always connect the balancer safety suspension "S" with the accessories supplied
and to a suitably sized support, NOT THE SAME as the one where the hook is
attached (N° 33 Fig. B) leaving a maximum over-stroke of 100 mm (DIN 15112)
(Fig. B).
7. You must pay attention to the fixing of accessory cable 20332 which must be well
doubled leaving a maximum over-stroke of 100 mm and make sure that clomps 20331
lock both lengths of the doubled cable; repeat the locking of the clamps after the first
tightening with a suggested torque of 4 Nm; in this way you recover the yielding created
between cable and clamps during the first locking phase (Fig. B); to avoid anomalous
wear, the balancer must be free to align with the cable (28) when the load is not applied
vertically.
8. Maximum duration and correct functioning are ensured when the balancer works
vertically.
9. The maximum angle to the vertical envisaged (Fig. C) may be 6°? 10°.
10. When a horizontal move is necessary which requires an angle greater than the
maximum envisaged, the choices are:
a) the balancer is installed higher with a suitable extension (P - option) to be
requested indicating the height "I" (Fig. C).
b) the balancer is suspended from a trolley (C) which permits reaching the
necessary work positions by horizontal movement (Fig. C).
11. When you use screw fixing devices to connect the balancer or to fix the safety
cable at point "S", you must use self-locking systems and/or split pins.
12. Hang the load on the hook (29).
13. Do not lubricate balancers with flammable or volatile liquids.
14. Do not remove labels. Replace any damaged labels.
V. Safety warnings and regulations
1. The shutter screw (6) has two positions: A Drum rotation locked; B Drum rotation free.
2. It is absolutely forbidden to unlock the balancer with the shutter screw (N° 6
pos. B fig. E) when the cable (28) is extended and without load. The cable (28)
could rewind at an uncontrolled speed, striking nearby persons and objects and
damaging the balancer.
3. Blocking of descent of the load may come about due to breakage of the spiral
spring In the drum (27) or because the balancer is adjusted to a capacity less than
the minimum.
4. During intervention under these conditions, support the load or set up a support
against falling.
5. It is absolutely forbidden to gain access to the drum unit spring (27) even for
maintenance. The spring-drum unit (27) is supplied assembled.
6. In the case of breakage the whole unit must be replaced, thus returning the
balancer to its original efficiency, reducing maintenance time.
7. Safety measures against the load falling due to spring breakage.
