Operation
Summer/winter
You have purchased a light that works both in summer and winter. However, as
sunlight is occasionally inadequate in winter the length of illumination can drop
significantly. If an additional shadow reduces the sunlight further this can lead to a
low discharge of the battery. In this case you must adopt the same procedure as
during initial set-up.
Changing the battery or batteries
E
If a battery is no longer performing it can be changed at any time. In this case
follow all the safety instructions and comply with local laws on disposing
of batteries.
– Do not use any force when opening the device.
– Always replace all batteries simultaneously.
– Use Ni-Mh batteries in at least the same performance category >= 600 mAh.
– Take careful note of the polarity.
– When closing ensure that the battery is sitting correctly and tightly.
– Hand-tighten screws only.
– Also look at the pictures on the first pages as assistance.
Maintenance/cleaning
The light is maintenance free with the exception of regular cleaning of the solar cells.
To clean it take a fresh, slightly damp fluff-free cleaning cloth. If stubborn spots exist
use a mild cleaning agent.
If the battery contacts become tarnished these can be rendered usable again with an
eraser rubber.
Do not use any cleaning agent containing carbon or benzene, alcohol or similar
substance. Individual parts of the casing can be affected as a result and dullness can
be caused in the solar cell area. Never clean using tools with sharp edges such as
screwdrivers or metal brushes.
