1. Safety Instructions / Accident Prevention

Read the operating instructions fully and carefully and comply with their contents.
Check the supply lead and connector plug each time before use. Damage is only to be rectified
by a trained electrician.
Make sure the letter opener is switched off (place mains switch (1) at the back of the appliance
to position "0") before plugging into the power socket.
Always place the supply lead so that it leads away from the back of the appliance and make sure
it presents no damage or tripping hazard.
Do not withdraw the supply lead from the socket by pulling the lead.
Do not place any object under the cover (2) of the cutter (risk of damage!).
Do not place hands under the letter intake and ejection zones of the cover (2). Fingers can be
injured by the cutter when the motor is running! Take care with long hair and neck ties, scarves
etc.
Before removing the cover (2), first switch off the letter opener (place mains switch (1) to position
"0") and remove mains lead from the mains supply connector (3).
Repairs are only to be carried out by a service engineer from your local Frama sales organisation.
Under no circumstances open the appliance yourself!
Keep children away from the letter opener.

2. Installation / Connection of Mains Supply

Place the letter opener on a horizontal surface. Place letter collector (4) on the right of the letter
opener.
The letter opener is protected by a T 2.0 amp fuse and is ready for operation without the need for
presettings for mains supply voltages between 110 and 240 V at a mains frequency of 50 or 60 Hz.
Ensure that the mains supply switch (1) at the back of the appliance is at position "0". Connect the
mains supply lead to the mains supply connection (3) and to a suitable mains power socket.

3. Standby State

Place the mains supply switch (1) at the back of the appliance to position "1".
The standby or ready-to-operate state is indicated by the lighting of the green diode (5) on the letter
feed table.

4. Operating

Place all bulky envelopes to one side.
It is recommended that the remaining envelopes are sorted according to size.
Position the letter collector (4) at the required distance (depending on the length of the enve-
lopes to be opened).
Knock the remaining stack of letters on the table (6) to shake the contents away from the cutting
edge.
