Installation and assembly of the 400 Internal substrate filter

5.1

Preparations on the tank

Before mounting the filter, a hole 124 mm in diameter must be drilled at the height of the tank shoulder
with the core drill (art. no. 202003 – not supplied) and the DN 100 special seal must be fitted. Slide the
150 mm HT pipe through the lubricated special seal from the inside to the outside of the tank, narrower
end first. Then slide the DN 100 HT branch on to the inner socket to form the tank outlet.
5.2

Preparations on the filter

Before installation in the tank the filter must be prepared as shown in the diagram below.
The following table indicates the length of the support pipe for the Carat tank (to be provided by the
customer) between the filter and the calmed inlet. For alternative tanks the length of the support pipe
must be individually adjusted.
Tank volume
2700L
3750L
4800L
6500L
Before inserting the filter into the tank, the calmed inlet, support pipe and filter housing must be
connected together. The plug connections can be optionally secured with self tapping screws.
5.3

Filling the filter bags

The best way to fill the filter bags with the substrate is to use an ordinary dustpan. Make sure that all
three filter bags contain approximately the same amount of substrate. This means an approximate weight
of 3.5 kg per bag.
