Checks
1. Check that the battery is fault-free, in good condition and is the right type for the battery
charger.
2. Check that the battery is correctly connected and that any battery fuse is not broken.
3. Check that the mains voltage is correct and that none of the fuses are broken.
4. Check the cabling and connection device to ensure there is no visible damage.
Recycling
The charger must be recycled as metal and electronic waste.
Checking and changing the charger's settings
The battery charger may only be reprogrammed in consultation with the battery manu-
facturer. The program tables in pictures 5 and 6 only apply when programs specified in
the table's program lines installed in your battery charger. Check the battery charger's
labelling.
Changing the charging curve in SMC-HF 3200
If, for any reason, the battery charger needs to be readjusted, for instance, when
changing the battery, the following instructions should be followed.
1. Identify the battery type. Flooded or Valve regulated.
2. Identify the battery voltage and the battery capacity C5Ah.
3. Check that the battery charger and program chip fitted are suitable for the new bat-
tery. If in doubt, contact the supplier.
4. Look up your battery charger [CHARGER] and program [PROGRAM] in the "SMC-
HF 3200 Micropower standard program" table, see picture 5.
5. Go to the relevant battery type (Flooded [WET], [WET PULSE] or Valve regulated
[DRY]) in the "SMC-HF 3200 Micropower standard program" table, see picture 5.
6. Set the program switch for the relevant battery capacity in accordance with the [Ah]
and [SWITCH POS] columns.

Checking the program, set charging curve and battery size in SMC-HF 8000
The program can be viewed on the rating plate on the outside of the charger.
The set charging curve and battery size can be checked by following the instructions below.
1. Disconnect the mains power to the charger and disconnect the battery.
2. Connect the charger to the mains power.
3. Within 30 seconds of connecting the mains power, press and hold the pause but-
ton for 10 seconds. The charger will respond with a short flash from all the lights,
and then show the code for saved program selection, see picture 6 "SMC-HF 8000
Micropower standard program".
4. To return to normal function, press the pause button again (<10s), or wait 30
seconds to return to normal function automatically.
