casing should therefore only be opened by authorised service personnel.
When charging batteries, hydrogen gas may form. As a result, there
is a risk of explosion
Batteries should only be charged in a well-ventilated room.
Naked flames or sparks must be avoided in the immediate vicinity of
batteries when they are charging.
Installation
Installation may only be carried out by an authorised technician.
The battery charger must be installed indoors in a dry, clean environment.
Position the battery charger so that air is free to circulate through the bat-
tery charger's ventilation vents.
If several battery chargers are installed next to each other, they must not be positioned
in such a way that the cooling air from one battery charger blows into an air vent on
another battery charger.
Install the battery charger as per pictures 1a and 1b. The dimensions specified for free
space around the battery charger must be complied with.
The battery charger should be installed so that gases from the battery charging process
are not sucked in by the charger's fans.
The battery charger should be attached to the wall or similar using the accompanying bracket.
No inflammable material should be left next to or under the battery charger.
Installing the SMC-HF 3200, 8000
• The battery charger is manufactured in different mains voltage versions. Check that the
mains voltage in the installation location matches the battery charger's rated voltage as
per the charger's rating plate.
• The recommended mains fuse is specified on the battery charger's rating plate.
• The battery charger is connected to the mains power using a cable with a plug inserted
into an earthed wall socket, or a 3-phase socket.
• The associated lock shackle for the mains power cord for the single-phase model must be
fitted before use, otherwise there is a risk of the charger being damaged. See picture 1a.
• Connect the battery charger as shown in pictures 2a and 2b. The red cable is connected
to the battery's positive terminal and the black or blue cable is connected to the battery's
negative terminal. Check the marking on the battery very carefully.
