Efficient, compact CO
diffusors for aquariums. With CO
2
- Instructions for use: please read carefully and keep in a safe place. -
Congratulations on purchasing this high-quality CO
diffusor from DENNERLE. If used properly and treated with due care, you will be able to reliably and
2
consistently supply your aquarium with CO
– the most important fertilizer for aquarium plants.
2
DENNERLE wishes you hours of fun with your aquarium!
How the CO
Flipper works
2
The CO
supplied by the CO
fertilizer system escapes into the bottom of
2
2
the Flipper from the opening of the CO
hose. The CO
bubbles rise up the
2
2
channels of the Flipper very slowly.
In the process, the CO
dissolves into the aquarium water. This is why the
2
bubbles get smaller the further they rise. The amount of CO
supplied can
2
be calculated by the number of bubbles per minute.
CO
Flippers are extremely effective: Due to the very long route the CO
2
has to travel, the bubbles have plenty of time to dissolve – despite the
unit's extremely compact design.
The waste gas vent
Whilst the CO
bubbles course up the Flipper and CO
dissolves into the
2
2
water, other gases that occur naturally in aquarium water penetrate the
CO
bubbles. This is why the bubbles get smaller the further up the tank
2
they rise, without ever dissolving completely. When the bubbles reach the
collector they consist almost entirely of waste gases and contain barely any
CO
at all. These so-called waste gases are considerably lighter than the
2
relatively heavy CO
and therefore gather at the top of the collector. Here
2
they are drawn off automatically on a regular basis using the specially
developed waste gas vent.
The heavy CO
on the other hand collects at the bottom in the gas buffer
2
at the interface to the water. From here it diffuses into the aquarium.
Thanks to the fully-developed design of the Flipper, the valuable CO
used optimally.
Running in the CO
Flipper
2
The CO
Flipper takes about 2 days to run in. To begin with, the individual
2
CO
bubbles join together to form larger bubbles. However, after only a
2
short time, the channels of the Flipper become coated in a biological layer
consisting of micro-organisms. This layer ensures that the individual CO
bubbles travel through to the collector.
CO
Flipper and aquarium size
2
CO
Flippers can be used in combination with all customary CO
2
systems.
Which model is most suitable depends essentially on the size of your aqua-
rium.
• CO
Mini-Flipper for aquariums of up to 160 liters
2
• CO
Flipper for aquariums of up to 300 liters

• CO

hose connector. TIP: Dipping the end of
the hose into hot water briefly before-
hand makes it easier to slide it over
the hose connector.
3. In the aquarium, select a spot with
good but not too strong water circulati-
on. The spot should not be too bright
2
to prevent possible algae growth.
4. Using the suction cups, attach the CO

surface of the water. Ensure that plants
do not obstruct the circulation of water
through the slits of the CO
5. Set the required amount of CO
needle valve of the pressure reducer. For
this purpose please also consult the
instructions for use provided with the
other components of your fertilization
system.
GB
DENNERLE Profi Tip:
• Always protect your valuable pressure reducer against corrosion caused
by intake of water! To do so, use only check valves designed for use in
combination with CO
Valve. Normal air check valves may become brittle and leaky through
contact with CO
unnoticed.
The right amount of CO
For magnificent plant growth, DENNERLE recommend a CO
aquarium of between 15 and 30 mg/l, whilst between 20 and 25 mg/l
is ideal. The number of bubbles per minute required to achieve this CO
tent depends on a number of factors (types of plants used, water current, sur-
face area/volume ratio, etc.). This is why it is always necessary to determine
tube
the CO
amounts for each aquarium individually.

reactor
Rule of thumb for the basic setting: start with approx. 10 bubbles per minu-
2
te per 100 l of aquarium water, i.e. for a 200-l aquarium, for example, use
collector
2 x 10 = 20 bubbles per minute.
2
Check the CO
supply and the CO
2
and adjust the CO
Warning: if necessary, only ever increase the CO
course of several days!
Please note: the more vigorous the surface of the water is set in motion
(e.g. by filters, additional aeration), the more CO
aquarium again.

• It is easiest to measure the CO

content of the aquarium water on the basis of its color.
