Areas of Application
Electro-sensitive protective equipment with two tested solid-state switching outputs can be directly connected to the respective input socket of the module. Three M12
sockets are provided for connecting the electro-sensitive protective equipment. Socket 1 is intended for connecting electro-sensitive protective equipment with an 8-pole M12
plug. As an alternative, socket 2 can be used to connect electro-sensitive protective equipment with a 5-pole M12 plug. The electro-sensitive protective equipment is supplied
with power from AS-i via both sockets. The third 5-pole socket can be used to supply a separate ESPE transmitter if required.
An 8 x 4 bit code table is transmitted via the AS-Interface bus to monitor communication. This is evaluated by the safety monitor.
Safety Instructions
If the system is operated accordingly, safety category 4 according to ISO 13849-1 can be reached. When suitable sensors are implemented, the module can be used
in loops up to SIL 3 according to IEC 61508. Only one ESPE device can be connected to the module. Untested outputs are not permitted! The module does not test
two-channel sensors for correct two-channel tripping. In the case of one-channel tripping, a two-channel tripping is transmitted to the safety monitor making renewed
closing possible without carry out further testing. This means that if the required safety category demands two-channel monitoring, the connected safety sensor
must monitor both channels and prevent renewed closing. The test impulses of the tested outputs are suppressed by the module. Due to the way the system oper-
ates, this extends the reaction time until the safety monitor is switched off by 20 ms.
The PFD / PFH value of the complete loop must be calculated by the user. The PFD / PFH value of the module is listed in the technical data.
Notices in the AS-i Safety Monitor connection and operation instruction manual as well as in that of the ESPE to be used must be observed!
