3.2. PREPARING FOR USE
Appliance location
The temperature of environment must not be higher than
40°C and the relative humidity should be less than 80%.
Ensure good ventilation in the room in which the device
is being used. There should be at least 10 cm distance
between each side of the device and the wall or other
objects. Keep the device away from hot surfaces. Operate
the device on an even, stable, clean, fire-proof and dry
surface and out of the reach of children and persons with
mental disabilities. Position the device such that you always
have access to the power plug. The power cord connected
to the appliance must be properly grounded and
correspond to the technical details on the product label.
3.3. DEVICE USE
Using the device
1.
Front control panel:
1.1.
The voltage / current units used on this device are
Volt (V) and Ampere (A).
1.2.
In the factory settings mode of the panel, the user
can operate the device directly using the panel rotary
knob.
1.3.
When the remote control of the device is connected,
the [Lock] button is engaged automatically, and the
control can only be carried out remotely. The "On /
Off" button is still available for use. All other buttons
are locked. To unlock the control panel, press the
[Lock] button, the button backlight will turn off.
1.4.
The device is off after it is connected to a power
source.
2.
Entering numerical values:
2.1.
Numeric buttons:
Use the 0 to 9 and comma buttons to enter the target
values, then press the [Enter] button to confirm. If
the set value is incorrect, press the [Cancel] button
to clear the current value and enter the correct one.
(Number entry: 32.000 V is [3] [2] [.] [0] [0], 3.200A is
[3] [.] [2] [0] [0]).
2.2.
Rotary knob
When continuous adjustment of the output signal is
required, it is recommended to use the adjustment
rotary knob. To do this, press the [<] or [>] button
to move the cursor left or right. Turn the rotary knob
clockwise to increase the number continuously.
Turn it anticlockwise to decrease the number. The
modified value is immediately confirmed without
pressing the [Enter] button.].
3.
Setting the output voltage:
Press the [Voltage] button, the voltage cursor flashes.
Enter the target value (the rotary knob) or enter and
accept the target value (the numeric buttons).
4.
Setting the output current
Press the [Current] button, the output current cursor
starts flashing.
5.
Over voltage protection (O.V.P):
The overvoltage protection function protects the
power supply pack and the test object against
damage caused by excessive voltage.
Before starting the test, enable the O.V.P. function
and set its value. When the output voltage exceeds

that value, the power will be turned off and the
display will show "O.V.P".
With the O.V.P function enabled, the output voltage
is limited by the O.V.P. range. To avoid damage to
the power supply pack, the O.V.P. range can not
exceed 120% of the rated voltage.
When the device goes into O.V.P mode, first of all
remove the causes, then turn on the power again.
5.1.
Setting O.V.P value: Press [O.V.P. Level], the O.V.P.P.
cursor starts flashing. Enter the target value (the
rotary knob) or enter and accept the target value (the
numeric buttons).
5.2.
Setting O.V.P. status
Press [O.V.P. Status] to turn the O.V.P. function on or
off.
6.
Overcurrent protection (O.C.P):
The overcurrent protection function protects the
power supply and the object being tested against
damage caused by conductive current.
Before starting the test, enable the O.C.P. function
and set its value. When the output current exceeds
that value, the power will be turned off and the O.C.P.
message will appear on the display. When the O.C.P
function is enabled, the output current is limited by
the set O.C.P range.
6.1.
Setting O.C.P value
Press [O.C.P. Level], the O.C.P cursor flashes. Enter
the target value (the rotary knob) or enter and accept
the target value (the numeric buttons).
6.2.
Setting O.C.P status
Press [O.C.P Status], to enable or disable the O.C.P.
function.
7.
Setting the output flow delay:
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "PARAME
DELAY" appears on the display. Enter the target value
(the rotary knob) or enter and accept the target value
(the numeric buttons) in seconds.
8.
Function settings:
Press [Utility] to enter the Utility setting, then press
[Menu] to select options under this function:
8.1.
Power On settings
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility INIT"
appears on the display. All settings are set to default
factory settings. The factory settings can be turned
on or off using the rotary knob.
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility LAST"
appears on the display. The current settings become
start-up settings when the device is turned on. Turn
the factory setting on or off with the rotary knob.
ON: After switching off the device, the last settings
used will be remembered.
OFF: The output settings will be default ones.
8.2.
Setting the OP relationships:
Press the [Menu] button until "OP LIM" appears on
the display. Set the O.V.P and O.C.P relationship with
voltage and current. Use the rotary knob to turn the
relationship setting on or off.
ON: When the O.V.P value is set to ON; the input
voltage maximum value is O.V.P.
When O.C.P is "ON", the maximum input current
value is O.C.P.
OFF: O.V.P and O.C.P are not associated with voltage
and current.
8.3.
Setting the RS232 baud rate:
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility Baud"
appears on the display. Change the baud rate code
using the numeric buttons or the rotary knob. Make
sure that the baud rate meets the requirements of
the computer's remote control. The following table
shows the corresponding baud rate code:

8.4.
Setting the alarm beep:
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility Beep"
appears on the display. Use the rotary knob to turn
the beep on or off.
8.5.
Enabling the hotkey functions:
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility
Hotkey" appears on the display. Use the rotary knob
to turn the function on or off. After the function is
activated, the numeric buttons 0 - 9 indicate the
settings stored under the index number from 0 to 9
in the device memory. The previously saved setting
can be recalled by pressing the appropriate digit.
8.6.
Turning on the voltage test:
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility
VselfTe" appears on the display. Use the rotary knob
to turn the function on or off.
Users can enable this feature to improve accuracy
and obtain the exact setting of the output voltage.
8.7.
Setting the device address:
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility
Address" appears on the display. Use the numeric
buttons to enter the device address, then press the
[Enter] button to complete the entry.
8.8.
Saving settings in the device's memory:
Frequently used operating parameters can be stored
in the device's memory (100 memory records).
The parameters to be recorded include the output
voltage, the output current, O.V.P, O.C. P, O.V.P
status, O.C.P status and delay time.
To store the settings, keep pressing [Store] until
"Utility Store" appears on the display. Enter the
memory address using the numeric buttons, then
press the [Enter] button to complete the record.
8.9.
Recalling the saved settings:
Keep pressing the [Store] button until "Utility Recall"
appears on the display. Use the numeric keys to
enter the setting address, then press [Enter] to
confirm your choice.
8.10. Utility sensing settings
When the external receiver draws high current, the
voltage on the cable connecting the power supply
and the load will drop. In the constant voltage
mode, the remote sensing function automatically
compensates for the voltage drop across the
connecting cable. Before using the function, make
sure that the power is in remote sensing mode and
that the device is turned off. Do not connect the
sensor cable to the load connecting cable.
To enable or disable the remote sensing function,
keep pressing the [Menu] key until "Utility Sens"
appears on the display. Use the rotary knob to turn
the function on or off.

8.11. Selection of the trigger source
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility
TRISOU" appears on the display. To select the trigger
source, use the numeric keys or the rotary knob:
• 0 EXT is an external trigger
• 1 PULSE is a TTL trigger on the rear panel.
• 2 IMM uses "TRIGGER: IMMediate" as the trigger
source. All other trigger methods become
disabled.
• 3 BUS is the communication interface trigger.
8.12. Selecting the trigger function
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility
TRIFUN" appears on the display. Use the rotary knob
to select the trigger function:
• 0 OUTPUT: switching the output state.
• 1 TIME: Single measurement procedure in step
operation mode.
8.13. Controlling the display backlight
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility LIGHT"
appears on the display. To adjust the brightness of
the LCD backlight, use the numeric buttons or the
rotary knob.
8.14. LCD contrast control
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility
CONTRA" appears on the display. Use the numeric
buttons or the rotary knob to adjust the display
contrast.
8.15. Selecting the parameters to be displayed:
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility DISP"
appears on the LCD. Use the numeric buttons or the
rotary knob to enter parameters and to select the
third parameter to be displayed:
• 0 POWER SUPPLY: the third parameter is
displayed as Power.
• 1 RESIS: the third parameter id displayed as load
resistance
• 1 TIME: the third parameter is displayed as the
output time.
8.16. Total start-up time
Keep pressing the [Menu] button until "Utility
UPTIME" appears on the display. The accumulated
device start-up time appears on the display.
9.
Auto start
9.1.
Setting the status
Keep pressing the [Timer] until "Auto Status" appears
on the display. The power supply goes into the
automatic start mode. Press the [Menu] button to
select the functions in this menu. Use the knob to
turn the functions on or off.
9.2.
Setting the memory address
Keep pressing the [Menu] until "Auto Start" appears
on the display.
Enter the target value (the rotary knob) or enter and
accept the target value (the numeric buttons).
