As soon as the red control lamp glows
steadily, swing out the steam and hot
water nozzle and place a suitable vessel
beneath it.
Press the
key and turn the rotary
valve to the
position (18). If you do
not actuate the rotary valve in the next 2
minutes, the appliance will return to ist
normal operating mode.
As soon as there is sufficient water in the
vessel, return the rotary valve to the
position.
Now remove the vessel and swing the
steam and hot water nozzle inwards over
the cup grid so that any further drops of
water can fall into the drip tray.
Be careful! The steam and hot water
nozzle is very hot.
Preparation of steam
Hot steam can be used for the frothing-up of
milk for making cappuccino, as also for the
warming of espresso cups and the heating
of liquids. The knocking noise heard during
the preparation of steam is caused by the
intermittent action of the water pump.
Note: Every time steam is prepared, the
used capsule must first be removed from
the capsule holder, so as to avoid the coffee
being dried out and thus blocking the
steam/hot water nozzle.
Frothing-up milk for the
preparation of cappuccino
(19 – 21)
Apart from the preparation of espresso
coffee, you can, with the appliance, froth up
milk necessary for the preparation of
cappuccino. In order to achieve the optimum
frothing-up, you should use the separate
frothing attachment. Just stick the frothing
aid onto the steam/hot water nozzle (19).
Note!
The frothing aid must be used only for
the frothing-up of milk.
Pour about 100 ml of low fat milk into a
small, narrow jug (max 0.5 litre capacity)
which must pass easily under the steam
nozzle of the machine. The milk should be
well cooled. The jug you use should also be
cooled, so do not rinse it out beforehand
with warm water.
First of all prepare the espresso, making the
cappuccino cup only half full of espresso.
Remove the capsule from the holder and
reinsert the empty holder.
Turn the rotary valve to
key (20).
The red operation control lamp and the
green steam control lamp will both blink. As
soon as the red control lamp glows steadily,
the appliance has reached the temperature
necessary for the production of steam. If
you do not actuate the rotary valve in the
next 2 minutes, the appliance will return to
ist normal operating mode.
Dip the steam and hot water nozzle into the
vessel containing the milk.
In doing this, hold the jug under the nozzle
in such a way that the nozzle itself dips right
into the milk (21).
Turn the rotary valve to the
hold the jug steady during the frothing
operation. The nozzle must not touch the
bottom of the jug, so as not to impede the
flow of steam. When the frothing operation
is finished, return the rotary valve to the
position.
