5. Proper Installation

CAUTION
1. Before installation, be sure to remove all protective seals.
2. Before installing the product, blow out the inlet piping to remove any piping scraps, dirt and oil.
3. Install the product so the arrow on the body is pointing in the direction of condensate flow.
4. Install on horizontal piping within the allowable inclination, as shown below. The handwheels
should be in the horizontal plane facing the operator, and the BD2 blowdown valve facing
downward. (BD2 not included with V1-RL or V2-RL.)
5. Install the trap unit to the trap station. For installation instruction see instruction manual
shipped with the trap unit.
6. Connect the outlet piping.
7. The BD2 blowdown valve is shipped from the factory in the closed position. Verify that the BD2
is closed before opening the inlet valve.
8. Open the inlet and outlet valves and check to make sure that the product functions properly.

NOTE: Make sure the blowdown valve is facing downward (toward the ground). The blowdown
valve ejects fluid from inside the product, and the fluid may be very hot and at high
pressures. (BD2 not included with V1-RL or V2-RL.)

6. Inspection and Maintenance

CAUTION
Performing Maintenance on the Trap Station
1. V1: Turn the handwheel until the inlet valve is fully closed.
V2: Fully close the inlet valve, then fully close the outlet valve.
2. Operate the blowdown valves as explained in "Blowdown Valve Operation" on the following
page. (The V1 has one blowdown valve (except V1-RL), the V2 has two blowdown valves
(except V2-RL)). The pressure inside the body and trap is released to atmosphere.
3. Loosen the two bolts connecting the trap to the body and remove the trap unit. Perform trap
maintenance or replacement as required (refer to the manual for the trap unit).
4. Proceed to "Disassembly/Reassembly" if further maintenance on the trap station is required.
5. Attach the trap unit and tighten the two connector bolts to the proper torque. (For correct
tightening torques, refer to the manual for the trap unit.)
6. Operate the blowdown valves as explained in "Blowdown Valve Operation".
7. V1: Slowly open the inlet valve and check all threaded parts to make sure there are no leaks. If
there are no leaks, turn the handwheel further until the valve is fully open.
• Installation, inspection, maintenance, repairs, disassembly, adjustment
and valve opening/closing should be carried out only by trained
maintenance personnel.
• Take measures to prevent people from coming into direct contact with
product outlets.
• Install for use under conditions in which no freeze-up will occur.
Allowable Inclination
• Installation, inspection, maintenance, repairs, disassembly, adjustment
and valve opening/closing should be carried out only by trained
maintenance personnel.
• Take measures to prevent people from coming into direct contact with
product outlets.
• Be sure to use the proper components when repairing the product, and
NEVER attempt to modify the product.
