3. Use
3.1 Installation
See also the user instructions for fan unit SR  500/SR  500 EX/
SR 700 or compressed air attachment SR 507 whichever is used.
Breathing hose
One hose connection is fitted with an O-ring. Fig. 3. This end should
be connected to the fan/compressed air unit. Fig. 4.
3.2 Donning
See also the user instructions for fan unit SR  500/SR  500 EX/
SR 700 or compressed air attachment SR 507 whichever is used.
• SR 561, long hood: Grip both sides of the hood opening with
your hands. Fig 5. Draw the hood carefully over your head.
• SR 562, short hood: grip the hose mounting with one hand and
the neck section of the hood with the other. Fig. 6.
• Insert your chin into the hood. Keep your grip of the hood and
draw it over your head.
• Adjust the hood so that it seals all the way round your face (short
hood SR 562) and fits closely and comfortably. The rubber band
in the face seal (short hood SR 562) or the neck band (long hood
SR 561) can be adjusted to the required length.
• If necessary, adjust the width of the hood by means of the knob
right at the back of the head harness. Fig. 7. The knob is located
on the inside of the hood below the hose, but can be reached
from the outside without removing the hood. Turn the knob
clockwise to reduce the width and anti-clockwise to increase it.
• In order to ensure a perfect fit, it may be necessary to remove
the hood and adjust the depth of the head harness. Fig. 7.
• Make sure that the breathing hose runs along your back and
that it is not twisted. Fig. 8.
3.3 Doffing
Do not take off the equipment until clear of the hazardous area.

• Slacken the face seal (short hood SR 562) or the neck band
(long hood SR 561). In emergency situations, the hood can be
taken off with the rubber band tightened.
After use, the equipment must be cleaned and inspected. See
4 Maintenance.
4. Maintenance
The person who is responsible for cleaning and maintenance of
the equipment must have received suitable training and be well
acquainted with work of this type.
4.1 Cleaning
Sundström cleaning tissues SR 5226 are recommended for daily
care. If the equipment is more heavily soiled, use a soft brush
or sponge moistened with a solution of water and dishwashing
detergent or the like. Rinse the equipment and leave it to dry.
If necessary, spray the hood with 70 % ethanol or isopropanol
solution for disinfection.
NOTE! Never use a solvent for cleaning!
4.2 Storage
After cleaning, store the equipment in a clean and dry place at
room temperature. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or other
heat sources.

4.3 Maintenance schedule
Recommended minimum requirements on maintenance routines
so you will be certain that the equipment will always be in usable
condition.

4.4 Change parts
Always use genuine Sundström parts. Do not modify the equipment.
The use of non-genuine parts or modification of the equipment
may reduce the protective function and put at risk the approvals
received by the product.
4.4.1 To change the sweat band
The sweat band is secured with Velcro tape to the forehead band.
Proceed as follows:
• Pull the sweat band off.
• Fit the Velcro tape with the rough side towards the forehead
band and the notch at the top.
4.4.2 To change the long SR 561 Tyvec hood
• Release the hose from the adapter.
• Release the three press-studs at the top edge of the visor.
• Turn the hood inside out.
• Release the press stud from the hose attachment and pull the
hood off the head harness. Fig. 9.
• Place the new hood in front of you, with the visor facing up.
• Attach the press stud to the hose attachment and pull the hood
over the head harness.
• Fix the head harness with the three press studs onto the upper
edge of the visor. Start with the middle one.
• Mount the hose in the adapter.
• Check that the head harness is straight in the hood and that the
hose passage of the hood is not twisted around the hose.
4.4.3 To change the short SR 562 Tyvec hood
• Release the hose from the adapter.
• Release the face seal rubber bands secured to the forehead
band next to the Velcro tapes. Fig. 10.
• Remove the Velcro tapes.
• Release the three press-studs at the top edge of the visor.
• Lift the head harness out of the hood.
• Place the new hood in front of you, with the visor facing down-
wards.
• Grip the front part of the head harness with one hand and insert
it into the hood. Fig 11.
• Make sure that the Velcro tape is stretched under the forehead
band of the head harness (Fig. 12) and secure the hood by
means of the three press-studs at the top edge of the visor.
• Fold the Velcro tapes around the forehand band and secure
them as firmly as possible.
• Take the face seal rubber band and insert the knot into the
keyhole opening in the head harness. Secure it by pulling the
rubber band into the narrow part of the slot. Fig. 13.
• Mount the hose in the adapter.
• Check that the head harness is straight in the hood and that the
hose passage of the hood is not twisted around the hose.
