9. MAINTENANCE

The Biohit Proline XL requires regular cleaning to ensure trouble-
free operation. Use a soft lint free cloth lightly moistened with a mild
detergent to clean the outer surface of the pipettor.
DO NOT AUTOCLAVE. Only the nose cones and the silicon adapters
are autoclavable (121°C, 1 atm).
Note: The pipettor must be turned off prior to servicing!

9.1. Decontamination

To decontaminate the XL, lightly spray the outside of the XL with the
Biohit Proline Biocontrol decontamination spray (cat.no 724003, 500 ml
or 724004, 5 l) and wipe dry with a clean lint free cloth. The nose cones
and the silicon adapters (see below) can also be placed into a beaker
containing Biohit Proline Biocontrol and left there for 30 minutes for
complete decontamination. The parts should then be rinsed with distilled
water and dried.

9.2. Changing the filter, silicon adapter or nose cone

To change nose cones, filters or silicon adapters, first press the nose
cone lock release button (4.5 Nose cones and adapters, Fig. 6), rotate
the nose cone counter-clockwise and pull out the nose cone, the silicon
adapter and the filter when neccessary. Insert the new filter with the blue
side upwards and the adapter/nose cone of your choice and twist the
nose cone gently clockwise. Both the nose cones and silicon adapters
are autoclavable (121°C, 1 atm).

10. TROUBLE-SHOOTING

The Biohit Proline XL has a built-in monitoring program to control the
precision and performance of each pipetting action. If the error message
"Er" appears on the display, this means the XL has been unable to perform
the attempted action properly. If you should receive the error message
please do the following:
