SAFETY TIPS FOR USING YOUR PRESSURE COOKER
Please read the handling instructions carefully, to pre-
vent any damage due to incorrect use.
Before each use, check that the rotary valve, the safety
valve and the rubber seal are all in good working order,
as described in the section "CLOSING THE PRESSURE
COOKER".
Never manipulate any of the aforementioned safety
elements. If you think any of them are not working
correctly, contact the shop where you bought the pres-
sure cooker or a technical assistance service. If any of
the pressure cooker parts needs replacing, ensure only
ALZA original spare parts are used, always in original
ALZA packaging. The use of non-original spare parts will
nullify the guarantee and the manufacturer will have
no liability.
The minimum amount of liquid (water, stock, wine etc.)
to be used in the pressure cooker is 1/4 litre. This en-
sures the steam can circulate and prevents damage to
the pressure cooker.
The maximum filling amount is 2/3 of the pressure
cooker's capacity. However, if you are cooking foods
that could froth up or swell during cooking such as meat
stock, rice or vegetables, do not fill the pressure cooker
any higher than 1/2 its capacity. This will prevent the
food from splashing out when you open the pressure
cooker, with risk of burns.
TRIPLE SAFETY SYSTEM
1 – Rotary valve (11)
This maintains the pressure in the
pressure cooker at all times, letting
out the excess steam.
2 – Safety valve (13)
This valve begins to function if exces-
sive pressure builds up. The reason for
it starting up is that the steam outlet
(12) is blocked. If this happens, re-
move the pressure cooker from the
ring and clean it (Fig.1).
3 - Bridge (5)
If both of these safety devices are ob-
structed, the pressure building up in-
side the pressure cooker enables this
component to bend, letting the steam
out and preventing an undesirable lev-
el of internal pressure being reached.
If this happens, take it to a Technical
Assistance Service to have the two
safety systems checked.
Never use the pressure cooker with no water in it, as
this will seriously damage it.
When cooking solid food, make sure the safety ele-
ments in the lid are not blocked. Remember that this
kind of food can sometimes swell during cooking. If you
are cooking meat with skin, such as ox tongue, do not
prick the meat as there is a risk of burns.
When cooking mushy foods such as lentils, shake the
pressure cooker before opening it, to prevent the
steam bubbles splashing out when you remove the lid
and causing burns.
Never try to force the pressure cooker open when it is
still under pressure. If you wish to open it, follow the
instructions in the corresponding section.
Keep an eye on the pressure cooker during cooking and
keep it out of the reach of children.
Do not touch the hot surfaces. Always use the handles.
Wear gloves if necessary. Keep your hands out of the
danger area.
Do not place the pressure cooker in the oven or micro-
wave. Do not use it to pressure-fry.
Do not use the pressure cooker for any purpose other
than that for which it was designed.
Keep this instructions booklet.
