Recommendations for Maintenance and Cleaning Behind
Moveable Gas Appliances

DO NOT USE the Standard Snap QD as the gas shutoff method when cleaning or servicing
the appliance .
Dormont recommends that the gas connector, accessories, and restraining
cable be checked during every cleaning . If there is any damage, contact a
professional for repair or replacement .
Disconnecting the Gas Line
1 .
Turn off the gas appliance .
2 .
Carefully pull the equipment away from the wall . Stop when the restraining cable is taut .
3 .
Turn off the gas supply at the manual shutoff valve located off the main manifold line . The
handle of the manual shutoff valve should be perpendicular to the valves .
4 .
Unplug any electrical cords in the area to be cleaned .
5 .
Disconnect the gas connector from the appliance using the Standard Snap QD .
6 .
Detach the restraining cable snap hook on the wall .
7 .
Carefully pull the gas appliance away from the wall .
8 .
Clean behind the equipment . Ensure that no grease, grime, cleaning solutions or other
chemical substances enter the Standard Snap QD, or the gas line .

STRONG CLEANING SOLUTIONS OR CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES SHOULD NOT COME
IN CONTACT WITH THE GAS CONNECTOR OR ACCESSORIES. These may include
acids, solvents, fluxes with zinc chloride, or other chlorinated chemicals . If contact occurs,
rinse the gas connector and/or accessories with water and dry thoroughly with clean cloths .
If there are any signs of damage to the gas connector or accessories, turn off the gas supply
and have the gas line replaced by a professional immediately .

Carefully inspect the gas connector, fittings, restraining cable, and attachment points at
the wall and on the appliance . If there is any damage, contact a professional for repair or
replacement .
Reconnecting the Gas Line
1 .
Reconnect the Standard Snap QD .
2 .
Reattach the restraining cable to the wall .
3 .
Plug in any electrical cords in the area that were previously unplugged .
4 .
Turn the handle on the manual gas shutoff valve to the "On" position . The handle of the
manual shutoff valve should be parallel to the valves .
5 .
Carefully push the appliance back toward the wall .

Make sure that the casters do not roll over the connector and that the connector is not twist-
ed, kinked, torqued, crushed, or otherwise damaged .
6 .
If required, re-light the pilot light and turn on the equipment .
