ReliaGuard and Accessory Devices Installation Steps

ALWAYS turn off the manifold shutoff valve and the gas appliance prior to installation or dis-
connection of the gas connector and gas accessory devices . Ensure that the gas outlet is in
the same room as the appliance and within 6 feet .
Restraining cable is MANDATORY to limit the movement of gas appliances with casters
during operation, cleaning and servicing to prevent damage to the gas connector . Refer to
the installation instructions provided with the restraining cable . The gas appliance MUST BE
disconnected from the gas connector prior to maximum movement .
ALWAYS apply a gas approved sealant or tape to male tapered pipe threads prior to mating
with female tapered pipe threads . The final connection MUST BE tightened with wrenches
to create a gas tight joint . DO NOT overtighten or undertighten the connections . The final
assembly MUST BE tested for leaks .
ONLY use thread sealant on the male pipe threaded end that mates with the female
pipe threaded end of the SwivelGuard device . DO NOT USE thread tape and DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN .
The Standard Snap QD MUST BE oriented so that the gas
enters the female coupling side and exits from the male
nipple . FOLLOW THE FLOW DIRECTION ARROWS that
are permanently marked on these gas accessory devices .
NEVER insert foreign objects such as screwdrivers into the
Standard Snap QD and coupling as damage could occur .
DO NOT USE the Standard Snap QD with a dual-fed
manifold gas inlet . Such an installation is dangerous and
may result in injury, death, fire, explosion, gas leak, or
property damage .
Standard Snap QD IS NOT to be used as the primary gas shutoff . The upstream manual
shutoff valve MUST BE turned off prior to disconnecting the Standard Snap QD .
NOTICE
Remove the ReliaGuard gas connector and all additional items, accessories, and parts from
the Dormont ReliaGuard Gas Connector Kit box or bag . Ensure you have all the necessary
parts for your planned installation configuration .
Dormont recommends installing one or two SwivelGuard swivels to allow for 360 degree multi-
plane movement of the ReliaGuard extending mobility and connector life .
