Mains connection
Insert separate pre-fuses. Safety fuses must be used. For
nominal value please refer to the Technical data.
Connect mains cable according to circuit diagram. In case of
wrong phase sequence ("Drehfeld falsch" (Wrong rotating field
)indicator is lit, the two phases must be interchanged (not ap-
plicable for alternating current).
Connection of the pumps
Only pumps which are allocated to this control unit in the cata-
logue may be connected.
The pump cable strands that are marked must be connected to
the terminals of the control unit as shown in the circuit diagram.
The strands of the pump cable marked 30/32 (thermal motor
contacts) must be connected to terminals 30/32 of the PCB.
NOTICE! Core 31 potentially present in older pumps is not nee-
ded for this control unit; the free end can be nipped off and
insulated (230 V!).
Set the motor protection relay (AD...) or the motor protection
switch (BD...) to the rated current of the pump (see type plate).
The reset function of the overcurrent relay must be set to
"Hand". If necessary, use a screwdriver to turn the reset button
clockwise, as far as it will go, to the "H" position. Not for AD 4
XE and AD 8 XE.
If the direction of rotation is correct, the starting jerk of the
pump will be counter to the direction of the arrow on the motor
housing. If the direction of rotation is wrong, two phases of the
pump cable must be interchanged on the control unit.
CAUTION!
The start-up jolt can be very forceful.
Level contact sensors (accessories)
The levels in the collecting chamber are monitored by continu-
ous level contact sensors.
Examples: Air diaphragm control units, static air level controls,
hydrostatic level controls or float switches.
WARNING!
In explosion-endangered areas float switches must only be op-
erated in intrinsically safe circuits (Exi).
For this reason, an ex-proof auxiliary control device must be in-
serted between the float switch and the control (accessory). The
ex-proof auxiliary control device is installed next to the pump
control.

Adjustment of the watchdog timing
For the maximum permissible run-time, please refer to the
operating instructions of your pump. The number of minutes
is specified in the Technical data. Use switches S1 - S3 on the
PCB to set a time which is smaller or equal to this value.

For duplex units:
If a high water alarm is activated, additional switch-on com-
mands are given:
- for the base load pump (S4 at GL) or
- for both pumps (S4 at SL).
For duplex units:
Operation without peak-load function (no
parallel pump operation)
When motor protection switch or temperature limiter is trig-
gered, this causes a change-over to the standby pump.
The motor contactors are not locked; for this reason a simul-
taneous run of the pumps is not completely ruled out. If this
could result in problems, a motor contactor lock must be fit-
ted.
For duplex units: Operation as a single pump
unit
The control unit can also operated with only one pump connec-
ted. For this purpose, use an insulated core to bridge terminals
30/32 for the pump that is not connected. Both motor protec-
tion switches must be switched on.
Set the selector switch of the unconnected pump to position
"0" and of the connected pump to position "Automatic".
Shutting down the internal alarm buzzer
Remove the sealed jumper "BRX" on the right next to the buzz-
er. To prevent the jumper from getting lost, plug it onto a pin of
the two-pole pin connector.
External alarm buzzer (accessory)
NOTICE! When an external buzzer is connected, the integrated
buzzer must be shut down.
A 12V buzzer with a max. current consumption of 30 mA can be
connected to terminals "S+" and "S-" with the correct polarity.
Remote failure indication system
Connect the remote system to terminals 40/41 on the PCB.
The potential-free NO contact of the centralised alarm can be
loaded with a maximum of 5 A / 250 VAC.
External 230 V flashlight or warning light
(accessory)
Connect a 230 VAC lamp (1 A max.) to terminals N and 43. Lay
an insulated wire bridge from terminal U~ to terminal 42. The
electric circuit is protected by F1.
