CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Maintenance works beyond charging battery, changing bar and chain, adjusting chain
tension, chain sharpening, oiling and cleaning shall be done by specialized service!
Only use genuine spare parts for repairing! Contact your retailer for order.
Standard maintenance
• Check the oil tank regularly, refill oil if necessary, see chapter 9.2.3.
• After use clean the chainsaw from oil, dust and wood chips. Keep ventilation openings clean.
• Even the tool is not used charge the battery regularly to avoid total discharge.
• Clean the rail of the guide bar regularly with a wood splint or the like
• When the chain is blunt, the cutting teeth must be sharpened
Sharpening the saw chain
• Only correctly sharpened saw chains with the correct angles will give optimum cutting performance.
• Warning! Minimum cutter length is 3 mm.
• Sharpening angle shall be about 25 to 30°deg.
• Diameter of the round file shall be about 4.0 to 5.0mm, for chains already re-sharpened several times
the diameter of file shall be 4.0mm.
• Some types of saw chains have a marking on the top plate to show the correct angle when sharpening
by hand. It also indicates the limit to which the cutter can be re-sharpened.
• Warning: Only use the file in a forward direction. Always file the tooth from the inside to the outside, the
file-stroke is shown by the arrow in figure below.
• Note: For optimum sharpening results we recommend this step to be done by a specialized workshop.
