Precautions concerning the area of work
1. Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark
areas increase the risk of accidents.
2. Do not operate electrical devices neither in explosive atmos-
pheres nor in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
Welding machines as well as plasma cutter create sparks which may ignite the
dusts or fumes.
3. Keep bystanders, children and visitors away while operating the
device. Distractions can lead to a loss of control over the situation. Protect
others in the work area from debris such as chips and sparks. Provide barriers or
shields, if needed.
Electrical Safety
1. Grounded devices must be plugged into an outlet properly
installed and grounded in accordance with all norms and ordi-
nances. Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug
in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified
electrician if you are not sure whether the outlet is properly
grounded. In case of malfunction or of break down, this guarantees that the
electricity will be led away from the user and conducted to the ground due to
the low resistance path.
2. Avoid any contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radia-
tors, ranges, and refrigerators. The risk of electric shock is higher if your
body is grounded.
3. Do not expose the machine to rain or wet conditions. Water ente-
ring an electric device can lead to deadly electric shocks.
4. Do not damage the power cord. Never use the power cordto
manoeuvre the device or to pull the plug from an outlet. Keep
the power cordaway from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving
parts. A damaged power cordhas to be replaced immediately.
Damaged Power Cords increase the risk of electric shock.
