LGB Smoke and Cleaning Fluid
Apart from being utilized as smoke
generating oil for locomotives which
actually generate smoke, this oil is
also suitable for cleaning rail surfaces.
Not to be uses as a lubricant for
bearings.
LGB-Locomotives operate more effi-
ciently on both indoor and outdoor
layouts, when the rail surfaces are
wiped at regular intervals with a cloth
lightly soaked with Cleaning Fluid
50010.
The running surfaces of the locomo-
tive driving wheels can be treated in
a similar manner to remove the dust
and dirt which has built up on the
driving wheels. Both these cleaning
operations improve the electrical
contact to the rails.

Hand operated grinder for the rail
surfaces.
Clean rails are a basic requirement
for good LGB train operation outside.
Sometimes if the layout is not in use
over a longeer period, treatment of
the rail surfaces by hand will be nec-
essary.
The grinder is somewhat wider than
the track gauge which permits simul-
taneous service to both rails.
Afterwards, the rails should be treat-
ed with Cleaning Fluid 50010, as
pointed out in the chapter on
