CompAlube Automatic Lubrication System
This vehicle is equipped with Groeneveld's CompAlube Automatic Lubrication
System, which was developed specifically to suit vehicles with a limited number of
grease points. The CompAlube Automatic Lubrication System ensures the grease
points automatically receive the correct amount of grease at regular intervals.
The system comprises:
a pump unit with integrated:
• pneumatic grease pump (piston pump)
• grease reservoir (a grease cartridge)
• control unit (pneumatic brake-counter)
• metering units
• grease pressure indicator
• grease pipes to the individual grease points
• compressed air pipes to the pump

Operating principles

The compressed air required by the piston pump is drawn from the air tank of the
vehicle. The brake-counter counts - via a pneumatic connection with the brake
command air line of the vehicle - the number of times the brakes are activated.
After it has counted a certain number of brake commands, the brake counter
activates the piston pump: the lubrication system starts its greasing cycle.
The grease pressure built-up by the piston pump causes the metering units to pass
an exact amount of grease to the grease points - via the grease pipes connected to
the metering units. The amount of grease that goes to a grease point during each
greasing cycle, depends solely on the type of metering unit installed. The amount
of grease, therefore, is adjusted to the grease demand of each individual grease
point.
The greasing cycle ends after the brake-counter has counted a second (smaller)
number of brake-commands. The brake-counter then stops the piston pump.
Grease pressure indicator
The grease pressure indicator shows you whether the most recent greasing cycle
was performed properly. If the system reached the required grease pressure during
a greasing cycle, the indicator shows green. If the grease-pressure was not reached,
the indicator shows red.
Test procedure
To test the system, you may perform a single cycle test using the test screw located
on the right-hand side of the pump unit:
1 Insert a screwdriver into the slot of the test screw.
2 Depress the test screw and slowly turn it anti-clockwise, until a greasing cycle
starts (air will start to flow from the air tank to the piston pump, which can be
heard quite easily).
3 The grease pressure indicator will first show red, but green immediately there-
after. Grease is now pumped -via the metering units- to the grease points.
You can perform a number of single cycle tests in quick succession:
