Theory of Operation

Introduction

This section describes the internal operation of the Omega Five Unit
Charger. The Charger includes a common power supply and five
separate charge controllers. A simplified block diagram of the Omega
Five Unit Charger is shown in FIGURE 4-1.

AC main power is applied to a transformer which provides the proper
voltage supply. An input selector switch configures the transformer
primary windings for 115 or 230 volts. A protective device placed across
a section of the transformer primary draws excess current if an
overvoltage is applied, blowing the internal fuse. The output of the
transformer is rectified and filtered to supply DC power for the charge
controllers.
