Generally only certified cable entries and
blanking plugs may be used. Flexible
cables shall be used with trumpet-shaped
cable glands or other suitable entries with
additional pull relief.
The relevant mounting directives for the
built-in cables entries shall be observed.
When using cable entries with a degree of
protection that is lower than the IP
protection of the apparatus (see Technical
Data, page 8), the degree of IP protection
for the complete unit is reduced.
In order to ensure the minimum degree of
protection, any unused entry holes shall be
sealed with certified blanking plugs.
When fitting cable entries, care has to be
taken that the sealing inserts are suitable for
the cable diameter.
In the case of sealing inserts that are cut out,
it is necessary to ensure that the insert is
properly adapted to the cable diameter.
In order to ensure the required minimum
degree of protection, the cable entries shall
be tightened down securely.
Overtightening can impair the degree of
protection.
Warning: When tightening the cap nut of the
metal cable entry (e.g. type ADE; CMDEL), a
suitable tool shall be used to stop the
gland from twisting.
Any unused metric Cooper Crouse-Hinds /
CEAG moulded plastic cable entries shall be
sealed with the blanking plug certified for
these metric cable entries.

Generally only suitable certified flameproof
cable entries and certified flameproof
blanking plugs may be used.
The relevant mounting directives for
flameproof cables entries and blanking plugs
shall be observed.
In order to guarantee and/or establish the
explosion protection, unused entry holes
shall be sealed with a certified flameproof
blanking plug.

Closing apparatus/
Cover lock
Any foreign matter shall be removed from
the apparatus.
Grease the cover thread before screwing the
enclosure cover into the flameproof
enclosure, preferably with grease type:
Renocal, Unitemp 2,
-50°C to +100° C, FN 745/94, DIN VW TL 745.
To close the flameproof enclosure, it is
necessary to fit the cover onto the enclosure
base correctly (if necessary, turn the cover
anticlockwise).
The cover can then be screwed into the
enclosure base by turning it in a
clockwise direction until the stop is
reached.
After this, the cover shall be fixed in position
with the interlocking screw of the cover or of
the switch, item 3, (Figs. 1 + 2, page 11).
To close the connection or bus bar boxes,
the catch locks of the cover are closed using
the internal square spanner.
To prevent unauthorized switching, the
interlocking switches can be locked in the
„OFF" position by means of 3 padlocks
(shackle diameter of the padlocks up to
6mm).
6.5
Putting into operation
Before putting the apparatus into operation,
the tests specified in the individual national
regulations shall be performed.
In addition to this, before being put into
operation, the correct functioning of the
apparatus and of the built-in components
(measuring instruments, signal lamps,
pushbuttons, etc.) shall be checked in
accordance with these operating instructions
and other applicable regulations.
Warning: Only certified apparatus may be
put into operation.
If the Explosion-protected
flameproof enclosures interior
temperatures under -20 °C the system
mustn´t be operated.
If lower temperatures are present, the
Explosion-protected flameproof
enclosures must become pre-heated with
a suitable certified heating on over -20 °C.
If an uncertified heating is used to pre-
heat the flameproof enclosures inside
temperature on over -20 °C,explosive
atmosphere mustn´t to be present.
7
Maintenance / Servicing
The valid national regulations for the
servicing / maintenance of electrical
apparatus for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres shall be observed
(EN 60079-17).
Prior to opening the enclosure, it is
necessary to ensure that the voltage
supply has been isolated or to take
suitable protective measures.
The necessary intervals between servicing
depend upon the specific application and
shall be stipulated by the operator according
to the respective operating conditions.
As part of the routine testing, the earth
leakage trip shall be tested twice a year.
During servicing, above all, parts on which
the explosion protection depends shall be
tested to ensure their correct state, e.g.:
1. Flameproof enclosures
Visual inspection of the cover thread.
The thread shall not be treated or varnished!
Any damaged parts shall be replaced
immediately using original parts or the
damaged parts shall be repaired by the
manufacturer.
2. Connection and bus bar boxes
Check all seals for efficiency and intactness.
Replace older or damaged seals with new
seals. Check that connection terminals and
cable entries fit securely.
If, in the course of servicing, it is ascertained,
that repairs are necessary, section 8 of these
operating instructions shall be observed.
8
Repair / Overhaul/
Modifications
Only original Cooper Crouse-Hinds / CEAG
parts shall be used for carrying out repairs
that concern the explosion protection.
In the event of damage to the flameproof
encapsulation, replacement of these
components is mandatory. In case of
doubt, the respective apparatus shall be
sent to Cooper Crouse-Hinds / CEAG for
repair.
Reconstruction or modifications to
apparatus are only possible within the
scope of the approvals and shall be
certified afterwards.
Moreover, additional terminals within the
scope of the apparatus approvals and cables
entries according to the details given by the
manufacturer may be fitted.
9
Disposal / Recycling
The respective valid national regulations for
waste disposal shall be observed when
disposing of apparatus.
The product range is subject to changes and
additions.
